Somewhere far far away.
I am currently running Afrihost 20Gb+20Gb package.
I wanna get a uncapped package to share with my brother which is staying in Tzaneen.
I will still keep my capped account as a backup. I just want uncapped with 2 concurrent connection. My question is which of the cheapy uncapped packages is best to go for if I wann share with my brother.
We are both running 4MB, but my brother only has a small TelkomSA account and it's a waste to TopUP.

So does Afrihost- but the speed is halved.
LOLZ that is just a fail solution halving the speed between 2 connections, why not just shape according to usage instead of halving speed???

Axxess has an uncapped solution with 2 concurrent connections

Good to know I had / have a prepaid account with them, have not used in a while, used to buy cap via EFT..
Anyone on this forum been using uncapped via Axxess (Just Uncapped 4MB = R497) << this package <<

Up to 4096 Kbps Connection Speed
- Data Limit
Up to 10Mb/s speed After Hours
Uncapped Service
2 Concurrent Location(s)
5 POP3 E-mail Account(s)

Yeah you had better read the terms & conditions very carefully. 99% chance that they've got that angle covered & you'd be in breach of contract. With capped products it makes little difference having 2 concurrent connections, but with uncapped you can (theoretically) download twice as much.

We're using Axxess Just Uncapped 4096 at R496 for two concurrent connections.

Average 200 GB per month. Though the performance varies, all in all we're satisfied.

Btw, the halving of speed doesn't seem to happen.

Thanks it sound little bit more positive then.. I'm not downloading that heavy. I max about 10gb a week or most maybe 40GB - 60GB
a month. My brother will most likely also not use that much. Might give this a trial run for 2 - 3 months. If not happy enough, will switch back to my backup capped account and get my brother also onto a capped afrihost account.

If you cancel before the 25th then you're done, so no risk like with Mweb's calendar month notice.

My brother and I are looking at the same option.. What speeds u getting? Any idea and what amount of gigs downloading does throttling occur?

Well my line syncs at between 2 and 3 Mbps. Depending on the sync I get 200 - 300 KBps.

No idea when throttling kicks in but my usenet downloads are full speed after hours. Average 200 GB per month (per account, not per connection).

Thanks bud.. Thats perfect coz im also primarily a usenet downloader

Same here also mostly using NZB's for downloading.. I average about 50GB - 60GB a month, so don't download that heavy.

As for Afrihost. Anyone on uncapped shared their connection with someone?? Does the halving of speed actually happen??

Please clarify.

Hi Peeps.

Please can you clarify the axxess "2 Concurrent Locations" bit for me.
If I go with the "Just Uncapped 4096" - Does this mean that I can have a router set up at my house using this connection and another at my folks house using the same account?

My folks only use about 3 gig per month and I use around 20 tops. Would this account work for us?

Thanks.

ray,

With that usage you should be OK. Torrent speeds will be severely degraded during normal hours though.

Wooohooo!!
I just applied online for an adsl line.... so hopefully I'll be up and running by Christmas 2099
