Uncapped 2 Mbps for R149 a month

Is this for real?? Don't see how they can offer uncapped for that price.

They do however have a sense of humour:
(from their FAQ)

I have an i-Burst modem and I would like to use it to connect to the WAVE

The Wi-Fi standard does not require the use of any external "modems" - the connectivity to WAVE is possible using the build in Wi-Fi Network Interface Card (NIC, also called adapter). We don't have any good idea what you could possibly do with the obsolete i-Burst equipment - have you tried giving it back to i-Burst or selling it to someone you don't like that much?

Funny how they make it sound as if computers come with built in wifi cards.. well the cost is minimal anyway and laptops do.

Somehow this doesnt excite me, what's the chances this is another really bad service from a WISP, anyone going to sign up?

The thing is that they cant give you 2mbps uncapped for R149, doesnt matter what wifi service they use (which will probably be bad), so it will be highly congested sattelite links?

Maybe I'm too skeptical, they have to give you some kind of uncapped service for R149 which will always be worth it.

2Mbps connection to their tower. 56Kbps connection from their tower to their internet provider. :)

How many laptop wifi nics will be able to transmit to any of these towers any way? Surely they need some sort of external antenna?

Now this is what we want.

@RPM: How about a news story on this please?

There is only one reason why we would blacklist you – after warning you first via e-mail and then a phone call – and that is if you do not comply with our acceptable use policy. This policy is in place so that our network does not get abused by a few to the detriment of most users.

They basically decide what is fair use and what's not.

If they didn't they'd have to call it capped. But they couldn't really run a service like this with downloaders on the network, I understand them doing that. Of course it depends where they draw the line if they do call it capped.

They never mentioned if any ports were blocked throttled etc?

They also dont mention 2 Megabit guarantees.. they also dont mention what is "Acceptable" internet usage...

They dont mention alot.. :-P

This is wifi-mesh all over again people.

hmmm, Perhaps that shipment of suction cups is still at customs? :D

I love the idea. For a lekker local WUG, not for internet ;)

In SA you can set up the last mile any way you want, you still get raped by telscum for the international internet connection.

Sorry to say but with out any acceptable guarantees a new business has little hope of surviving, Even if they are the greatest in the world!(or south Africa)
