Hi Peoplezzz!!

I am looking for a uncapped 8mb data package for a bud of mine.

I have been searching the internet and I know he isn't willing to pay for a 10 MB uncapped data package that he isn't even going to get the speed.

Can anyone help me out with information:D

Doesn't exist, too few are on that speed. 4 meg or 10 meg it is.

When oh when can I get 10 meg telkom? Oh wait, I have to pay more for my line then. bleah

Best option is OpenWeb Afterhours uncapped. Full line speed from 7pm to 7am. Think its R899/month.

have a look at this, covers more or less all uncapped offerings availeble

There are quite a few reliable and cost effective uncapped accounts available, however you are required to stay away from the mainstream accounts, like; OpenWeb shared uncapped accounts (therefore the poor speeds), MWEB, Afrihost, IS, etc.

PM me your friend's contact details and I will provide a link.

I'm with Openweb and my speeds are great (and have been for the past 9 months).

+1

You will not get a better service unless you're prepared to spend a huge amount of money.

Depends what you want to do but after hours is good but not during the day, you may be better off using 4 meg uncapped 24/7 than 10 meg 12 hours a day depending on your needs of course.

You're right, if you work at home during the day then you shouldn't get after hours uncapped. But if you go to work during the day and come home at around 6pm then for R899 you can download as much as you want at full speed while you're at home without fear of being throttled down to dial-up speeds. + you also get weekends...

There is one thing I hate about the "cheap" 10Mbps packages. As much as Garyvdh would like to convince, they are not true uncapped. Simply if at 1pm you decide you want something to come down at full speed, those accounts will be useless.

Agree that is a real plus, however throughput and no blocked ports are more important to me.

I really don't know what issues you have with openweb. Their GOLD accounts are the best cheap uncapped you can get.

It's simple, the hierarchy goes:

1 Unshaped uncapped Mweb or perhaps openweb
2 Openweb gold
3 Mweb
4 Don't even consider

This is for price as well as shaping restriction. My belief is that you should start at 3 and work your way to 1 until you hit your personal price/performance sweet spot.
