Uncapped ADSL bandwidth auctioned

what stops them from bidding on their own bandwitdh if they feel prices are too low, which is often done in auctions?

It is completely irrational to say that a small sample of insane people are the determinants of market price.

Disagree, I haven't seen an uncapped 4mbps account go for less than R2.5k so the market value of the Cybersmart account is R2.5k. I have a feeling the auction might go above that figure by a couple of hundred.

As for shell bidding I don't see why Cybersmart would be prepared to risk their reputation for a couple of bob!!!

Makes no sense...
 
I think most of "you" out there are missing the point. This is for existing subscribers, who would like a bash to boost their cap as a one off more for fun than for industry competition. And it's simple. You don't like it, don't bid. And on behalf of Cybersmart (i am not employed there) i think they would like to thank everyone for the Marketing it has achieved.... Works doesn't it?
 
Something about Cybersmart just doesn't sit well with me, like they are trying to fool their customers.

Kinda like the propaganda article discussed here...
 
On the whole.

Paying more for 3gb at 4mbps than 3gb at 384k, the "giggy bank" idea that you have to pay extra for, but you can get from other ISP's with prepaid bandwidth, the "don't dare use other ISP bandwidth or we won't support you" scare tactic etc.

My older brother uses it for his 384k connection - I wouldn't touch them for anything more advanced than that.

People are actually paying more for bandwidth on this auction that it would cost just to top up,are they all crazy or just plain stupid???????

Cybersmart's prices suck, way more expensive than other isp's... when are they dropping their prices, phoned them last month and they said their prices will reduce in November, well November is almost gone and prices still sky high!!!!
My bill for October was R1300 for 12GB, now that's crazy!:mad:

I had a dislike of of the attitude of Laurie from CS and Matt from WA, when they tried to portray Afrihost's offer as unsustainable.

Look at my sig. It changes as ISPs bring in great offers. I praise any ISP that brings in a great product. I praised WA a few days ago for the free gaming.

This product, a stupid auction, sucks.

If you don't like me expressing my opinion, good. I hope it irks the sh*t out you.

Exactly. CS's offers have too many strings attached and loops to jump through. I'm not into doing circus tricks in order to use my bandwidth/data.

This dangling of a single carrot, is in my mind a real finger to all their existing clients, never mind the fact that CS actually wants to attract others, by making the pathetic trick public.

Are you smoking something? R2100 for uncapped 4mg including line rental?

No boet, wake up. The cheapest you can get a top up is at afrihost for R29 a gig. Do the maths. You can download more than a terrabyte on a 4 mg uncapped account. Thats a thousand gigs. one thousand x R29 = R29000

The cheapest 4 mg uncapped account is about R2500.

I can't believe so many people are so against such an arb thing? Are we SO conditioned that we just cannot accept something different?
 
So with 5hours to run the current bid is R2150!!! If it goes for that it would be a steal!!!

:eek:So you got a 3gig 4mbps account and you topped up by 3gigs 3 times!!! You do know you can get anything from a 1gig account to an uncapped account? Topping up is going to cost you bombs!!! You can get a 10gig account including line rental and night rider for around R799-00 per month!!!

You can get a uncapped 384kbps account including line rental for R519 per month!!!! They have packages to suit every criteria...

Probably, but it's even a better deal than the screamer one at 399 which doesn't include line rental AFAIK:)

Damn this is making me think far more than I would like to...aaaagh:D
