Uncapped ADSL for R899

Concurrent connections don't realy make sense on a product that is uncapped.

If this account is just limiting the P2P programs and nothing else heck I would buy one and a 30 gig account :) that way all the torrents go through the one and the gaming(which I currently have a 4 gig unshaped account) would go through the uncapped, I also want to audio stream through this ucapped package would this be possible? if so then I would say a 899 package is very feasable to me :)

Please note, unshaped does not = low ping. The IS solution is unshaped but goes over satelite, even tho you can get unshaped speeds ie. maximum line speed on nearly everything, you ping self is still high.

Will this same package be available after the November price restructuring? Not that it would be attractive to me without some p2p.

I would be interested, I need uncapped for my work, and require no P2P, beats the hell out of paying the IS price for unapped, and I also have zero requirement for a static IP. Matt156, keep me posted on this, PM me if you need.

i suppose its a step in the right direction IF we didnt have to pay adsl line rental? or if line rentals were included in the price. the way i see it we'd probably get the full benefit of uncapped at 512k and over. R899 + R477 = too much for normal people to pay :( its a step in the right direction though, hopefully icasa pulls through

hmm well I used to have a datapro "uncapped" contract.

So here is what I think.. That was moer expensive abt R1400 but still.. now I have 2X 30Gb accounts(dunno for how long tho) with two diff isp's and that R650.

So uncapped for R899 with no "benefits" Vs. 60Gb at 650?( or R600 if both was with saol). Its kinda a no brainer. As for business.. uhm its only the p2p guys that require loads of stuff.. normal business shouldnt have to go past 20gb a month, specially a non-IT business.

I mean whats the reason behind uncapped? -huge transfers right, where else besides p2p do you get huge transfer amnts?

Just keep in mind that local would be capped as well (or at least charged for per gig) so I.S is taking a huge gamble on how much their users consume on their uncapped offerings. They would lose out on almost 8k if you work on R59 per gig when local gets capped after November.

FYI, the company I'm consulting for will be getting Mweb (or I.S) uncapped business ADSL.

How do you manage that?!!

I buy all my music, games and computer programs (all are purchased and downloaded online), I use Yahoo music service where I pay $6 a month and listen to all the music I want - this contributes about 1GB per day on average. All my movies come through my satellite and then onto my machine using TivotoGo. And I pay a hefty fee for VOIP service, instead of using the free skype or MSN. And I am not an online gamer.

If I need to transfer large files, I upload them to my FTP site (have 150GB transfer per month), then download them on the other side, I get full speed that way.

Good luck managing that here on a 512 line.

america... ok makes sense now.. uhm even ftp here is slow as crap. and I never ever get more than 55Kb/s with my stoopid 512(running at 640 or something) on http stuff. not to mention the nice caps waiting around the corner.

Also note.. that when I had the datapro thing (they used VPN to create illusionary uncapped) when I got round to 60Gb things went around dialup speed -even websites! They told me (not in so many words) that I downloaded too much... pft "uncapped"... yea right

I didnt think about the 512k line, well hopefully I will get access to the 1024Mbps by the time I arrive. FTP is 100% download speed from my site for my buddy who has been testing it on his MWEB account for me. Methinks there is a difference between MWEB and say the other low cost ISPs.
