Uncapped ADSL offerings: pricing comparison

Nice article on the pricing, would we be able to get one soon about the Performance of these lines?

Perhaps test the accounts and see what the latencies are like for Local and international Gaming, Im sure there are many wow users that are interested in numbers like this.

What the deal with the SAOL account? It seems the writer made a major boo boo referencing information from another part of the site.
Thanks for the feedback - We fixed it. We phones them and discussed the Fixed IP option...changed it to uncapped now :)

Missed the openweb 256 business hours, uncapped after hours. With no rolling cap, its not bad value at R1299. :D

That is the one I am on... I also don't see it listed.

Here is the website....

Uncapped Express - 4Mbps After Hours

R1299

P2P and Torrents allowed!

Product details:

* The account runs at 256k during the day for both local and international traffic.
* The account runs at 4Mbps after hours (Mon to Fri between 20:00 and 08:30 and ALL weekend long), if your Telkom ADSL line supports this speed, for both local and international traffic.
* The account only allows for 1 concurrent ADSL line to be connected to it at a time.
* The account allows for P2P and torrent downloads.
* The account is renewable but is available on a trial basis.
* Users whom activate a debit order, will only pay R1249 from the second month.

Between Mon and Fri, 20:00 to 08:00 and all weekend long, there will be no rate limits enforced.

Please note that accounts will run at 4Mbps between Mon and Fri, 20:00 to 08:00 and ALL WEEKEND LONG!
No matter how much you download!

It is very reliable and stable.

Cybersmart has unofficial uncapped 384k at R512 incl. line rental.
Has anybody ever used this.
I am planning to install ADSL at the end of the month.
My choice is between Cybersmart and SAOL.

Been on Cybersmart uncapped since 1st of December. Flying! Unshaped an uncapped.
They will probably only be officially launching it when they are sure there network can handle the influx of new users that will then follow.

BTW, SAOL accounts are resold Cybersmart accounts as far as i know...

I have the screamer 384 uncapped and you are assigned a private IP of 10.x.x.x.
It's a fail, and browsing is as slow as ever, P2P almost non-existent...

Really not worth it....

I suggest you get your Telkom link checked out. My 512 Screamer connection averages around 500Kb so for R799 a month I am very happy.

AFAIK IS launched their Uncapped Express+ accounts *YEARS* ago...

Writing staff smoking crack again?

Hi Guys

Do not confuse the 2 packages,

Both are uncapped, however one is with a Fixed IP, whichs costs per gig after the first 15 gigs and only works on a VPN router.

The other "simply uncapped" , dynamic IP is assigned and works with any router.

Thank you
Neethi

A lot of people are confusing those to packages.

While I don't want to sound like someone who just keeps on complaining - but I really want mbb to write something about the quality of services from these ISP's.

I mean, I've been using Screamer for over a month and I'm really disappointed with the quality of service - I get about 10 hours of internet downtime a week. It's one thing to have unstable speed but another thing not to get internet all together for hours.

Hi Origin

Please PM me your account no so I can get one of our techies to give you a call and check your connection because all our clients are receiving their full speeds now.

erm...no restrictions...
thats misleading. shaping restricts the usage.

+1

Nowhere is this mentioned in the article, SAOL for example is unshaped while Digichilli & Screamer is shaped. Not a fair comparison if you ask me.

Only seems to be beneficial to users with 384 Kbps adsl lines, the pricing for uncapped afterhours is still exactly the same since I've been using it over a year ago...So what differance has seacom had over these prices? The answer is absolutely nothing.

SAOL seems to win here for the bottom end of the uncapped market.

Sure, if you have a 4mb line, you can do better with the IS/Openweb accounts. For a start though, the Simply Uncapped deal is the best.

256k is not broadband...

Since when is Screamer shaped??
I don't get any shaping.

Digichilli is the best!!!!

Guys from my personal point of view, id have to say that Digichilli is the best uncapped ISP, not only unlimited but also good speeds. Also very affordable.

I have been using DigiChilli for about 3 weeks now and my connection has been sweet, I've experienced 1 or 2 connection problems, but nothing to throw my toys out of the cot about. I post to a Dave from DC and he told me that they fixing connection issues as we speak (about 11:23am today). To be honest I have no complaints. Have downloaded about +/- 180gig of stuff off my 1mb line. Would recommend it to any one who wants affordable uncapped internet.

Ummm yes. From what is being said elsewhere on this forum this looks suspiciously like a DigiChilli post.;)

You are paying Digichilli R3000 a month for a 1Mb line?!?
Screamer (R1499), Axxess and OpenWeb are all cheaper so you need to shop around a bit.

It's a bit hard to join Screamer if they not taking any more people
