Uncapped ADSL prices compared

It was with shock to read this article and find out I am with the most expensive 10mb uncapped ISP. For so many years Afrihost was the value provider but now it is significantly more expensive compared to its peers. Afrihost please revise your pricing and keep up the great service.

Remember that you really do get what you pay for. Be sure to read the fine-print of what you're signing up to. It's all good and well having a cheap 10Mb account, but it's pretty useless if you spend half the month being throttled down to 1Mbps because the ISP reckons you used the internet a little too much for their liking. And if you're not throttled, you're likely to have every important protocol, including simply browsing the web, shaped to death with these cheap products.

In the current state of the market, the mantra that "you get what you pay for" has never rung more true...

You get what you pay for with uncapped.

I hate these articles comparing price, but they never compare shaping or throttling limits.

Uncapped has been cheap enough for a while now. We need quality connections. That's why you see so many of us on business accounts. Me included.

I've been on a FNB 4Mbps uncapped for a couple of months now, service is fine and I use a couple of GB daily for tv streaming

Cost wise, I've got my rewards to get 100% discount, added to the ebucks they give me back for my phone and tablet (also 100%) they're paying me R500 for adsl and my phones. Don't know if it's possible to beat that value.

This.

Does anyone know which of these ISPs allow 2 simultaneous connections?

My current account with Internet Solutions allows 2 simultaneous connections, which is perfect for using the same account at the office and at home. However, Internet Solutions has recently started throttling their bandwidth to the point where it's unusable for any non-HTTP traffic, so I'm quite keen on switching to another ISP.

I am currently on a GOLD uncapped with OW. How would this offering compare to my current Gold @ R738 p/month for 4096k

The table is a bit misleading since all the ISP's gives different discounts on the ADSL line rental.

For instance standard ADSL rental on 10Mbps is R425 from Telkom.
Afrihost only charges R100 for this while Cybersmart charges R404 if you take the line with the ISP
In the end for 10Mbps Uncapped at Afrihost you pay R1054 (for ADSL line, Telkom Line and Data) while at Cybersmart you pay R936. That's only a R118 difference, much less than the R422 difference shown in the table between the two.

Definitely. Used to be with Mweb when they were making waves, but left when the quality of the product turned to absolute schit. Now on Afrihost and it's smooth sailing.

Openweb could have the lowest price for uncapped but we all know their star rating will skrew us.

Absolutely no P2P and Torrents with FNB. No go for me. Move along swiftly...

I also need an account with two concurrent connections. One for home and one for work.
