Undersea Cable Cutting: Prelude to War?

so an undersea cable gets cut near a country that has two continents touching it either side.....and they dont have land based internet feeds?

Surely they have internet coming in from neighbours as well...satellites?.....or does ALL their traffic flow aroun them, to teh sea cable, and then junctiosn off into IRAN?

Internet problems continue with fourth cable break

Internet services in Qatar have been seriously disrupted because of damage to an undersea telecoms cable linking the Gulf state to the UAE, the fourth such incident in less than a week.

Qatar Telecom (Qtel) said on Sunday the cable was damaged between the Qatari island of Haloul and the UAE island of Das on Friday.

The cause of damage is not yet known, but ArabianBusiness.com has been told unofficially the problem is related to the power system and not the result of a ship's anchor cutting the cable, as is thought to be the case in the other three incidents..

As mentioned by one of the posters above, its interesting that the breaks occurred in areas with no maritime shipping.. therefore, no anchors involved. It has to be submarines, or some form of covert submersible, from one or another warship in the area..

The long-awaited Iranian Oil Bourse, a place for trading oil, petrochemicals and gas in various non-dollar currencies, will soon open.

Iran's Finance Minister Davoud Danesh-Jafari told reporters the bourse will be inaugurated during the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution (February 1-11) at the latest.

"All preparations have been made to launch the bourse; it will open during the Ten-Day Dawn (the ceremonies marking the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran)," he said.

The Minister had earlier stated that the Oil Bourse is located on the Persian Gulf island of Kish.

Some expert opinions hold inauguration of the bourse could significantly devalue the greenback.

While Iran's nuclear program has become a major focus of the international media, there are many who strongly believe that the program is only a cover for the U.S. government's true motive in a possible attack against Iran.

What some analysts posit is the real concern for the United States is Iran's plan to open its own oil exchange — the Iranian Oil Bourse (IOB) — with the alleged goal of becoming the dominant center of the Middle East's oil trade.

What makes the IOB the subject of such interest by the American government? According to rumors, which first vaulted the issue into the spotlight, the financial exchange in the aforementioned bourse will trade for oil in euros instead of the U.S. dollar. The dollar has long been the dominant currency for international oil trade.

A Threat to the U.S. Economy?

The debate over the ultimate financial impact of trading oil in euros rather than dollars is a complex one, but according to some experts such a move could lead to a huge drop in value for the American currency, potentially putting the U.S. economy in its greatest crisis since the depression era of the 1930s.

LONDON, February 4 (IranMania) - The Iranian Company of Commodities Bourse has been tasked by the government to establish the long-awaited Oil Bourse on Kish Island, PressTV reported.

The Cabinet of Ministers on Sunday issued an order to the Oil Ministry, Finance Ministry, Foreign Ministry and Central Bank to implement a plan to set up the Oil Bourse.

The Oil Bourse will serve as a place to trade oil products and crude oil.

The Ministry of Economy will be setting up the petrochemicals section by February 19.

The Oil Bourse is supposed to trade oil products in non-dollar currencies and many analysts hold the opinion that it could deal a blow to the already declining greenback.

It's a testament to freedom of speech in the U.S that while in a war paying a heavy price in manhood and money that they allow foreigners into their country to take advantage of them and abuse their generosity to spread anti U.S propaganda

Let them rule themselves as they wish. If they sponsor terrorism overseas they should prepare to be on the receiving end though, but otherwise let them do ON THEIR OWN TERRITORY - what they wish.

This is not the first time that you have posted about the "imminent" attack on Iran by the US and the "next" false flag operation that will precede it. Tell me, does it not give you pause to be wrong so often about the same thing?

I hope you are seeing someone about your paranoia before it becomes a danger to yourself or others.
 
You know many of these countries just happen to sit on top of oil. They sat on top of oil for centuries yet it was the West which came up with uses for that oil - which ended up making lots of money for these states - which were otherwise piss poor. In addition all these America-haters love to drive biiig and I mean HUGE SUV's - American Jeeps and Hummers
and especially stretch limo Hummers are so popular over there. Its actually quite unfair
of them to play with this oil supply. They know the West needs it so they play
a balancing game - between hiking prices while monopolising the production and pissing the West off just enough not to get bombed. Maybe the West should stop all chemotherapeutic and antibiotic shipments or charge huge premiums for them in return,
same for IT and for all those gas guzzlers many of these guys love to drive?
Then again the US does make the Saudis buy all these suplus F16's.... and the Saudis
have the largest fleet outside the US of A. :)

I guess it's ok to drive the Big Satan's SUVs.
