Universal Drive Adapter?

Hi guys,

Would anyone know where I might be able to get a device/adapter that does the following:
capable of connecting either 2.5 or 3.5 drive to the device/adapter via SATA or IDE?
Able to connect to the pc via USB or E-SATA?

you ask for a "device/adapter that does the following" and then 1 is "to connect a hdd via SATA or IDE to the device" - which is no problem in the case of an external enclosure because upon which interface you choose your enclosure to be; IDE or SATA, you will be able to connect the drive to/in it. as psheldon stated it also depends on which drive size enclosure you choose; 2.5 or 3.5

this then sorts out your 2nd part as the enclosure will be able to connect via a number of ways, which in your case would either be e-SATA or USB.

Examples:
2.5" SATA to USB 2.0
2.5" SATA to e-SATA/USB 2.0
3.5" SATA to USB 2.0
3.5" SATA to e-SATA/USB 2/0

Alternatively:
2.5" or 3.5" to USB HDD Dock

Either 3.5 or 2.5 not both. I have an enclosure for 3.5 which can handle USB or E-SATA
I have a separate card to convert IDE to SATA and vice-versa
All from Computer Mania.
I doubt all your combinations can be covered with one device

The device The Rookie is looking for has nothing to do with external enclosures.

Contact Frontosa in JHB as they usually sell this product.
As they only sell to dealers, you might have to contact them for a dealer in your area.

I use this device on an almost daily basis and it works with just about any IDE/SATA device.
You can even boot from devices attached to it.

Frontosa is closing this week for the festive season so if you are in a hurry for this item, you need to act quickly.

I bought the one as pictured in this link from Prophecy (IIRC) about a year or two back. Works well enough.

Just in case matrix doesn't have the drive-walker in my area,
If I call frontosa and do manage to get a dealer, would I be able to purchase from them?
As I do not currently own any company.

what I posted may not have been what he was looking for, but then again he didn't mention it shouldn't be an enclosure.

also, go and look closely at his description of what he is looking for and you will see that ie the hdd dock I posted is pretty much the same as what iCare mentioned.

iCare adapter: HDD > SATA/IDE to Device > USB/e-SATA to PC
mine: HDD > SATA to Device > USB/e-SATA to PC

so none of use were wrong, but iCare just happened to hit the nail on the head.
 
Hi yall,

Thanks for the replies thus far.

I have selected to get a product which is similar to that of the one from wootware, however, this thing also comes with the 66 in one memory card reader.

I didn't specify the memory card reader in the OP, but looking around, I managed to find one.
so I'm sure I've have a universal drive access device plus something for memory cards.
