Unknown Caller

Hi

Is anyone else getting Unknown/Private caller dialing your number, when you answer, there is nothing on the other end and the calls get hung up after a few seconds.

The phone will ring again about twice afterward, and if I don't answer, will ring for about 20 odd seconds each time. This started after Telkom & Vodacom roaming agreement was finalized.

I have a 7-year old nephew, slowly discovering his own identity, including a sense of humour. This means I have to keep hearing the same joke over and over, and forced to smile and laugh everytime, providing some positive stimulus. But it does get tiring after the 4th time onwards.

Why don't you just not answer it? I never answer calls from numbers that are either hidden or not in my contacts. If it's important they can leave a message.

I did at first, but there is no voice or nothing, and will also auto disconnect the call after 3-5 seconds. It's kinda irritating when my phone rings 4-5 times in a day and I've got no clue to is calling. I'm not ignoring it, but I can't just put it on silent and forget as I do get legit phones during the day.

Also, it will ring for about 25-26 seconds, so not enough time for it to go to voicemail

It's bots calling out, but no real marketing person being available to handle the call the bot made to you (more phone calls than cold calling agents available), so it drops the line.
