Okay, firstly a disclaimer before certain users muddy this thread:
As the title says, this thread is for discussion surrounding how and when MWeb decide to impose throttling, the information has been determined from posts by those who have been throttled. It would be awesome if MWeb would provide these limits themselves but for some reason they prefer to ride this PR disaster the end. Fortunately it hasn't affected my service from the ISP as with most of it's (unaffected) subscriber base I'm sure. I don't have any affiliation with MWeb other than being a happy customer who's getting bored of repeating himself.
So as far as myself and aktor (based on this post - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...tling-Bull?p=11454031&viewfull=1#post11454031) the average seems to be around 100GB per Mbps so it's based on what users have reported, I've added links towards the end but it's a schlepp going through threads on a phone so I will add as this thread goes on. If anyone thinks the throttle limits are different, please post a screenshot of your Mweb ADSL account page showing your line speed and what your 30 day total is. The point of this thread is to crowdsource the information as accurately as possible.
1mbps = 100GB
2mbps = 200GB
4mbps = 400GB
10mbps = 1TB
In order to make that figure drop and not rise you need to average the following:
1mbps = 3,3GB per day
2mbps = 6,6GB per day
4mbps = 13,3GB per day
10mbps = 33GB per day
The fact that you're throttled means you will reach this point a lot quicker but I do think MWeb need to implement some sort of 'open time' (geddit? Multichoice/MNet reference) outside of working hours and weekends in order to halt the exit of further customers.
