Unshaped ADSL bandwidth after hours

1 step forward I guess.

Why don't they just do away with shaped accounts and only offer semi shaped and unshaped access? Yes I would like uncapped unshaped for R300 but that's still a while.
 
I welcome the move to semi shaped. It's about time ISP's start to move from Telkom. Well done.

The idea is a good one and represents value for money. The execution was a big, fat *FAIL*. Why do it on a Wednesday? People were phoning me left, right and centre...
 
Looks good! Will certainly buy me an account and see if it increases my World of Warcraft latency/ping. What is the average ping/latency i will get for WoW using unshaped and 384k?
 
Surely this is going to make gaming WORSE, since the IS international backboone is satellite based???

As far as I know all IS bandwidth sold by axxess is fibre based. That's includes the international on sat3.
 
Yeah they running IS fibre. So you more or less get the same latency on international sites that you usually do with telkom.
 
i wonder how long before this semi-unshaped pipe becomes overwhelmed with users...
 
Pfffffffft the real effect of this is that users are angry and feel betrayed by this!

Many of us signed up with Axxess because they were SAIX not IS. FFS how could they just change this

IS make use of both Sat and Fibre. Majority of the DSL these day from IS run on the Fibre.
WoW latency over the IS Fibre has been roughly 350ms

True.... but still dude. How many times will ISP's who's ego get too big for their clients make mistakes like this? Surely someone with NO business sense wouldn't even dare jeopardize their entire client base because they want to save a few bucks?
 
I have been waiting for WebAfrica to bring out better deals but im done waiting, this is exactly what i have been looking for and will move over asap, good job axxess.
 
The internet performance on both my basic 2GB capped account and my pre-paid semi-shaped account is abysmal. I changed the DNS settings as recommended in the SMS I received from them, but it makes no difference.

If it doesn't improve, I'm changing back to SAIX and reconsidering my options.

I sent an e-mail last night requesting the change back to SAIX, but it was refused by their server (probably overloaded).
