The guy caught the brick that was thrown at him. Not a single white person threw a brick. If a person throws bricks at me, my friends and my family, must I just stand there and take the bruises or will I defend myself?

Please explain the hypocrisy.

That however is by no way a fair comparison. Someone who has been schooled in an English language all of their school grades will in essence have an advantage above someone who has had it as a second language. Most black pupils are taught in English from Gr1 till Gr12 with English as being a 1st language. Afrikaans kids are taught in Afrikaans as a first language and English as a second language.

Please explain to me how it's fair then?

I've read all his/her comments over the last while and have stayed out of the conversation. But I honestly don't think the person is trolling. I believe that's how these protesters and the like think. It's as if they can't logically assess the situation. They appear to be blinded by hatred.

In my group of friends (8 of us), only me and someone else learned English as a home language. Everyone else did it as a FAL but we all learned everything in English.

How could you possibly know this?

This idea that all the white students (and non-students) are angels and couldn't possibly have been involved in violence themselves is bizarre.

How do you know most black pupils are taught English as a first language?

If I compare how English was taught as a 1st and 2nd language in my school and the education of everyone I know I don't think the disadvantage will be particularly significant.

In Afrikaans schools, the subjects are taught in Afrikaans.

Not talking about the English subject. If you're being taught all your subjects in English from grade 1 till grade 12 the subjects you received in first language English.

Not saying all, you get rural mud hut school and the likes. Looking at Pretoria, all primary and secondary school which teach in Afrikaans have little to no black students. All the English school are packed with black learners. And I'm not talking about the subject English. I'm talking about all the subjects in an English school is given by a teacher which has first language English. Well most of them anyway.

You can take this idea of taking Afrikaans out of UP and write in on your tummy. The people of Pretoria will not allow it. By all means necessary. Bring it...
They are sick of people not being able to move on after 25 years, crying and fighting over petty issues. Remember what drove the ANC to arms? Just remember that.
 
These protests have nothing to do with race , government or anything meaningful.Its just a bunch of kids who are using race etc to band together and protest for no reason.It definetly seems to be a thing for young people who want a sense of belonging and fitting in.If you look through history its mostly young people that seem to protest.Look at the 80s where young white liberals were marching against Apartheid.Most of these people have now left the country and are living abroad.Look at the G8 protests in Europe where these dumb kids cause ****.It just seems to be a phase that people go through when they young.
