Upcoming Games

Capcom will add DRM after you bought your game, without a word spoken. Not the nice kind either. The 50% less performance kind. It crippled RE4R. Steam revenge review-bombed it. Capcom later caved and removed it again.

Todd Howard is the biggest liar in the industry. Come on buddy you can literally search this line in Google even AI knows it. Oblivion is not a Remake at all. Its an UE5 asset import. Bethesda stole Nexus mods and tried to sell them. They are literally not schooled game devs. They are modders turned game devs.

I'm actually taken aback a bit that people do not know these things.

That said, again, everyone has skeletons in the closet. Picking and choosing is unfair, and futile.
Did Bethesda specifically say it was a remake as opposed to a remaster? I recall when it dropped it was pretty explicitly a graphical overhaul in UE5 with some QOL improvements.

I have no idea what Bethesda said or called it my point is and was that the "new" game today runs on a game engine that is 20 years old and it was a broken mess even way back then.

Weird example to use then...?
Yeah my bad. I know all remasters are done with their old engines still running them today. Oh, wait...

That said, you are nitpicking a response I gave a fellow chap in a discussion about Denuvo (estimated 5% performance loss vs everything that can go wrong probably will go wrong).

Once you have sunk some time into it, let us know how it is. Still very much on the fence after reading the reviews
I was expecting reviews around 82'ish but yeah 78 is not too far off I guess.

I sunk 2k hours into BDO so I knew what I was getting. This is the type of game that takes you 10 hours just to get off the ground. Its not a story-driven Witcher. Its a sandbox.

Of course reviewers don't all like that. And western hillbillies frown upon all Korean games.

Looks stunning and runs great on PC. Handles like ****. Only M&K button bindings can be changed, not controller. I play on controller.

Wait for patches.

Will play a bit more over the weekend but think I am going to do the same. Not going to bother with annoyances now if it'll be ironed out quickly. Dev literally just said they are going to patch quickly.

To be honest its a hard pill to swallow knowing these guys made BDO. 7 year dev cycle so they probably thought they'll chase RDR2 bot fact of the matter is RDR2 had a story (one of the best) to carry it instead of a Temu John Snow.

I'm enjoying Crimson Desert, it reminds me a lot of the Witcher more than any other game, obviously the Witcher story was way better and easier to follow, but with so many side quests I've already forgotten what the main quest is about, the fighting is much better but there are definitely some control issues, that might just be a skill issue on my side.

Just exploring by itself is already a winner, finding new areas, items, weapons, quests, etc has been great, I have hardly scratched the surface after 10 hours. I would give it a solid 8/10.

Not sure why they didn't let you create your own character. Even if just the face and keep exactly the same body as the male/female so that they don't have to make new animations. Would have generated even more hype and interest if you could create your own unique face.

Easy low effort to implement for a lot more $$$.

Crimson Desert - I had a go last night on pc. First game I've played in a while. Looks and runs great and I think the game has potential but yeah, controls need a patch.

Firstly, they force you to use w-a-s-d. I've always used cursor keys for movement but fine, whatever. Then I mapped light attack to mouse button one and that seems to be where my troubles started. You get these tasks like chopping wood and such and others like the chimney task that even give an on-screen prompt for how to do it but no matter what, when I use aim/focus or whatever to get the circle and do the action, my guy swings the axe/broom like a tit and doesn't do the thing. Twice had to temporarily re-map my light attack to a different key so that he would actually do what I want. As soon as light attack is bound to some other key, those tasks work fine. Definitely a bug.

You have a shield you literally can't get rid of but you cant block.
I haven't played the game but according to this you can block (around 3:10)

Reddit says you have to lock on to enemies first to block

Black Desert has one of the best character creators out there.

I'm almost 3 hours in and I don't know how to block.

Btw all of these things are skills you have to learn by doing side quests scattered throughout the world and getting Abyss Artifacts as rewards to unlock them they are not a given.

Like a reviewer said he was 7 hours in and stuck in a puzzle because he missed a quest in the opening hour and so did not have the action available to him to complete the puzzle.

Do any of the side quests offer decent story? Or is it mainly just to get new skills/resources?
