Update Xbox360 via flash?

Check the bc list to see if those games are supported ! maybe they're supported but only the ntsc versions ! i had a similiar bc problem with soul calibur 2 which didnt wanna work, when i checked the bc list again i saw only the ntsc version of it was bc with the 360

They're all NTSC. I live in the US.

I tested 3 more games on the bc list, I'm confirming that it's gonna do this with all Xbox Original games.

I'm not sure. I just know my console isn't doing the online OS update like it's supposed to. Everyone else says theirs do it fine, but mine just isn't. I was hoping someone would sort give some in-depth info on how to burn the $SystemUpdate fold with the file that has no extension to disc and exactly HOW to do updates via USB...as I dunno how to do updates using USB.
I'm sort of thinking, since it's not updating for originals online and it's not doing it via downloaded cd/dvd *tried both..with CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD-RW*, I would try it via USB using the $SystemUpdate file from microsoft.com.

Same result as Kage re "mixed media content" showing in the dvd part of the dash is all.
The BackCompat update one works, can't say the same for the $SystemUpdate one

Eliminator have you read thru the earlier post's?
I tried and failed using that $systemupdate file before myself several times.
I THINK Microsoft updated the file but never changed & corrected instructions for the updated files.
Was awhile ago i was messing with this but think i needed to use the Backcompat one -Nov 07

Using instructions and files here

If your talking to Microsoft again

THIS files instructions says to extract + rename the default.xex file....In the download there is no such file
Instructions
You will need to unzip the file to get the default.xex file out and put it at a location on your computer. If you are using Windows XP, you can simply open the zip file like you would a folder. If you are using an earlier version of Windows you will need a separate utility to open the zip file, like WinZip. Be sure the update is named default.xex

THIS says to copy the UNZIPPED FOLDER
Step 2: Drag the $SystemUpdate folder to the CD Folder. If the CD write window doesn't open by default then drag and drop the $SystemUpdate folder on the CD/DVD RW drive.
http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/support/xbox360/console/softwareupdates.htm

NEITHER WORK,ones instructions are wrong,2nd one for me also never would work????

THESE instructions say to copy the ZIPPED file
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/console/systemupdates.htm
I never tryed this one as i gave up & used Live update

Just a tad confusing microsoft

I called and asked MS about those other instructions and they said they didn't have the necessary information on them...therefore they couldn't help...
They only have the info for the default.xex file....the one that DOES work but doesn't do the OS online update like it's supposed to....
Hell what's strange is, I could hack my damn console easier than getting online updates with this lol. Only thing keeping me from doing that is the price tag on those things.

AH hell, I didn't even try renaming the file that didn't have an extension to default.xex lol. I'll try THAT. *meh, says disc is unreadable*

Dunno if this matters, but I can only use Nero to burn these things...even tho it burns it like it's supposed to...my Windows OS never detects a blank disc....always thinks that all discs have data on them lol even tho they're blank...AKA can't use Windows to burn a disc...gotta use 3rd party software.

Yes this is a double post I know, but I just wanted everyone to know that tried to help that I found the problem.

I tested my console out with my cousin's 360 he JUST bought.

My first test is what found the problem....

Into thinkin it was the console itself, I went to return it to where I bought it because it's still under warranty...but because it was after midnight, they wouldn't accept it back until in the morning...I was pissed because I had to drive 75 miles *going to work, then coming back home to pick up the console because I forgot it, and then going BACK to the town where I work...25+25+25 = 75* but that happened for a good reason in the end. My cousin just bought his console from somebody for 150. He hooked his up and I told him that I'm gonna run through some tests right quick. I checked to see if his console would do the update through the MS installation cd. It did like a charm. Then I unhooked his console, hooked up mine, and popped in an Xbox Original with his hdd attached to my console...low and behold, the Xbox screen pops up and it asks me for the online update....

So in the end, it's not my console, it's my hdd. For some reason, I ended up buying a faulty 20GB Xbox 360 hdd. I'm hoping like hell that MS will take that 20GB hdd and replace it for another one....what confuses me is that there's NOTHING on the hdd...so there's no faulty files or anything and it STILL works like a charm with 360 games, but not originals...but regardless, it's because of my hdd. I'll have to give MS a call when I wake up in the morning/afternoon before I go to work.
