Upgrade from 8 to 7 possible?

If I buy a new laptop with Win8 on it, can I upgrade it to Win7 and, if so, at what cost? This would be to be getting full Windows functionality.
 
With Vista you could up/downgrade to XP if you got the Pro version. I guess it's the same this time?
 
Why would you want to change it to windows 7? Apart from the tile system there is little to no difference between the two OS's.

i find windows 8 runs slightly faster than windows 7 which is a bonus on a laptop.
 
I'm not sarcastic when calling 8 to 7 an upgrade. Any change resulting in greater productivity is an upgrade. Incredible said it would require me buying 7 DSP at the full price. I can't accept that.

Don't be an idoit, just install ClassicShell and you won't even be able to tell the difference

Windows XP mode is missing... I build a fair amount of webpages and need to test it in IE 8 and 9. I am not keen on finding funny ways to get it to run in Win8.

Yes, ClassicShell. :D

My lappie boots straight to desktop, and Metro is only accessible through LShift + Windows Key. There is the odd settings menu that pops up in Metro interface, but I can live with that.

Thanks. I have a feeling it's going to get more difficult sourcing copies of Win7 and there is no way in hell I am loading Win8 on to office machines without it working like the users expect it to.

-Install

OK, all I need the computer to do is run LibreOffice, a browser, a PIM, do a VoIP call - no ''fun & games.'' Excellent security an essential requirement, similar to 7 ultimate's. I get all of this for free in Linux and am searching for a reason to stay with Windows - if it can do something that Linux can't. There is a cost difference of over R2k as Linux is free and has everything built in already. I like Windows 7 a lot but 8 peeves me. Where would your money go, and why?
