Upgrade kit questions

What power supply did you have?

Will have to wait and see, but likely to get a CX750watt to replace the FSP. The only thing that matters are the rest of the system, and thankfully that is all fine, and thank goodness for the backup system, would have been lost without it. :p

FSP was pretty, good. Trying to find a replacement cap. Finding a 470uf 420v cap is proving to be a beatch. Did find one but wants 600 bucks shipping fck that. The other is a 470u but 450v, extra 30v is not an issue, it is matching the ripple current and tolerance that matches. PSU is pretty much fine removed the cap quickly to avoid any acid spilling.

Still might not be worth it in the end, it is around R350 shipped. IDK will think about it

You had a 750w? That should've been more than adequate for your build, I thought it was like a 450 or something.

Yeah just a bit of bad luck and eskom. Our power out here in the sticks isn't the best, so likely degraded a bit faster. Fck should probably get a UPS at some point. Lol the neighbour wanted me to borrow the PSU till I am up and running again. Said hell no. Just now I have replace his PSU as well. lol

UPS is always a good thing if you have constant outages.

RS has 470uF/450v 105 C Chemi-Con's singles in stock. It will work out a bit cheaper.

Rant: Jirre, electronics have become expensive. I used to play around a lot, now taking it up again. I was looking at the prices of stuff I have, knowing what I paid originally when you could jol into a place and do binge shopping. Importing directly is just as expensive now... o_O

Nice size. The bigger ones have two batteries in series that get unbalanced, destroying them. I have a 2kva I jippo'ed.

Yeah pretty much next on the agenda, like end of the month. Then I need to start looking at getting a new screen too. Don't have any spare screens, but that is another headache in itself as I need to find one with the best color gamut, for development purposes rather than refresh rate, that doesn't break the bank

But PSU done and dusted

yeah that is the one from RS that I looked at...:) communica was the other option and digikey.co.za wants 600 for shipping. What pisses me off a bit is website masquerading as local website but isn't like digikey.co.za

Back up and running :). Good lord how much I have missed graphics :D

Everything running butter smooth, no complaints regarding the CX750. It is a heavy boy. Only complaint honestly PSU connectors are a bit skimpy with only 3 sata connectors. But kinda make sense with the switch over m.2 drives. But would have been nice to have an additional sata connector or two on a separate cable, given the wattage. The selection of cables is a bit odd.
