Upgrade kit questions

Never mind the boring story plot, and glaring plot holes and the story in general not making a lick of sense. I waited a couple of years to get the game, paid like R80.00 not too long ago.
You paid for it? I got it for free

The send off, Underworld with reshade enabled :). Underworld didn't age well, it is 17 years old, but still a lot of fun and annoying AF, unless you exactly at the right jumping spot be prepared to die over and over....lol

And ready for tomorrow, about the best bios video anywhere, used rufus to setup windows 11 installation, Enabled offline profile ect....so that is good to go. Basically only thing left tomorrow before the upgrade is copying old SSD data over and job done

Goodies is here. Had to update the bios it was a version from last year. So had to update it once windows was up and running

Got a C0 stepping, this is based on the older alder lake. That is as far as good news goes, with regards to CPU degration.

Now tomorrow the installation of software, and tweaking the FCK out of windows, I want my windows 10 start menu back.

Okay so been using the system for a couple of days now. The only annoyance I have discovered so far, is boost clock latency, but once it gets going I don't have anything to complain about. Wish the idle clock were a bit higher, it would negate core parking and such. Sure, the latency is measured in milliseconds, but it is still noticeable, starting an application up ect. It is most noticeable navigating windows to the point there is no discernable difference between the old and new system.

It also seems windows has a fit, with some apps and resources.

The other annoyances with windows 11 has been tweaked and sorted, can't say I am a fan of windows 11.

I have a couple of apps that have a hard time with windows 11, manage to setup a virtualbox for windows 7 for those apps but was a PITA to setup to import and mount a guest drive and be network sharable so that I have file access for guest to host and host to guest. Need to get a second monitor for the virtualbox as I will likely be using it a lot, there aren't a lot of replacements for these specific apps and the ones there are, cost an arm and leg. Also going to setup up an XP virtual machine at some point.

Overall, pretty happy with the build, with some minor annoyances here and there.

All core boost clock or single core? As single core shouldn't have that much of a latency? Maybe overclock the base frequency a little higher?

yeah boost to average 4.1 to 4.5, have hardware monitor running to check. I think the issue might be having selected the intel defaults in the bios which caps the wattage at 65watt I think.

That is probably the issue :-) you're not letting it free

If you have KB5063878 installed, you might wish to watch this:

With aerotweaker my updates are off by default, have to manually enable updates, been doing it since windows 10, meaning no broken updates get pushed. Update once a month manually

Yeah mofo. Should have upgraded my PSU with this system upgrade, couldn't handle the new system. Rather it couldn't likely . Main cap swelled, and started leaking acid, gave up today, no system instability or anything like that just stopped working, so it didn't pop or anything like that

Asked my neighbour to borrow his power supply to test the rest of the system, thank fck, nothing else got damaged. ran a quick stress test to make sure.

Guess I am PSU hunting, thankfully the old system is up and running, was just a matter of plugging in the back-up system , won't be able to game on it, as it only has on board graphics.
