Upgrade phone - Sony X1 or something else?

Hi guys

I'm due for an upgrade and I can pretty much get any phone I want. I currently have a TyTNII and looking for something similar. Reason being I primarily use the phone to link into Exchange with push mail and surfing the net when not in front of a pc, so I really need the slide out keyboard.

Phones I have looked at are the Touch Pro and the Sony X1. They both built by HTC so are almost identical in function. Sony however has the nicer screen.

Any pro's/con's, or any other phones you guys can suggest?

Get the Touch HD!:)

As for your choices, the X1 is better looking and just a better choice imo.

get the X1. a better choice, even with the Touch Pro V2 coming out.

Man, I looked at the Touch HD and its awesome, but without the option of a hard keyboard I know I'm going to frustrate myself :-(

Don't let that fool you.

On paper the X1 looks very good. Big screen, good battery, nice resolution etc..

If you do lots of typing then the X1 is not for you. I type much better on my 5800XM's touch screen than on the X1's keyboard.

The Touch Pro has a decent keyboard.

I'm not going into the X1's cons because someone will say something again. Search the forum for my comments.

I tried out both phones, and I quite like the "soft" feel of the X1 keyboard.

If I could ask, please PM me with the X1 cons. I would appreciate the feedback from someone who has used the phone.

Reason I don't want only a touch screen keyboard (or I would get the Touch HD) is I can happily type on a hard keyboard and have a conversation at the same time, as you can feel the keys under your fingers.

damn happy with my x1. the keyboard is WIN. havent touched my 3g iphone since december hehe

Ok, I've read through a lot of the posts you are referring to. I 100% agree that I need to test the phone out for myself, but your comments are noted and I will be keeping them in mind.

Basically I can get upwards of 300 emails a day where most need some kind of response. I have learnt to "deal with" the WM problems of a few seconds of slow response from the phone, and I have my own work arounds.

I will let you guys know how it goes, thanks for taking the time to respond

I have 3 contracts that are tied into one, so my monthly bill is pretty high. MTNSP (awesome service BTW) sent out a rep to show me what I could get and at what price. I just need to choose a phone and they will deliver it.

That's the bonus of having multiple contracts on your one account.

I have 5 MTNSP contracts on 1 account and I can't complain about deals from them.

Yeah, it gives you a little leeway when fighting for something you want. :D
 
Well, I'm still waiting to get my sim activated on MTNSP, application was approved on the 18th Feb, N85 was delivered on the 27th Feb and still waiting for sim to be activated, porting from Nashua Mobile.

I have, including data bundles for my businesses, 9 contracts with various service providers, Vodacom for data and MTN for telephony. I've found MTNSP service poor...
