Hi guys,

Im upgrading this week, so basically this fits my budget at the moment and i think it seems like a fairly decent setup.
Firstly, my current specs:

AMD Athlon 64x2 4600+ (cpu)
ECS-KN3SLI2 Extreme (mbd)
2.5GB DDR2-800 (ram)
GeForce 9800GT 512Mb 256Bit (gpu)

Want to upgrade to:

AMD Boxed Athlon II X4 640 Processor - 3.0GHz Quad Core http://www.comx-computers.co.za/CP-...-Core-Information-Price-Buy-Cheap-p-38088.php
MSI NVIDIA GeForce 7025 Chipset AMD Motherboard http://www.comx-computers.co.za/MB-...board-Information-Price-Buy-Cheap-p-46859.php
Transcend 4GB DDR3-1333 http://www.comx-computers.co.za/JM1...emory-Information-Price-Buy-Cheap-p-41451.php

I will have to use my current graphics card at the moments (budget!!)

Upgraded works out roughly R1700, which i guess sounds pretty good...

Now, your opinion... On a scale from 1-10, what performance increase should i be expecting?
Im a serious gamer  so that is the primary use for my pc.

Hope to get some good insight here, as im planning to get the parts today.
Thanks in advance :)

+R50 shipping (or you can collect for free since they are in Jozi somewhere)

=R1712.51 (R1662.51 if you collect)

Cheaper and the processor is a model up. I personally can't stick a number out of 10 on performance since I haven't owned a AMD system for ages, but these should help on the processor:

If I had to guess though and I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I would say it isn't worth the upgrade.

Even if you order today though you might find you'll have to wait till next year for your stock... cos all the suppliers close round this time of year

What is your budget?? If you can afford a Phenom quad it'll be a much better upgrade.

When I play games I often sit and stare at the CPU usage icon on my kb screen on my G510...

they so under used, and the GPU is being raped... I wont be upgrading my cpu for a looooooong time. Will rather put in another gfx card and run x-fire
