Upload Cap?

I'm thinking about setting up a little internet radio station, and I need to know if there will be a restriction on upload bandwidth. AFAIK iBurst = 1024/384, with a 3 gigabyte monthly cap, enforced from 1 April, reduced to 64/64 after limit reached.

Obviously, I can only host 3 users at a time with that upload speed at near-cd quality... I'll use a syndication service in the USA, so my total constant upload speed would be slightly north of 128kb/s.

Can anyone offer some advice? Will the upload speed be constant enough, and will I be capped?

my bc calculations reckon that by 128/8*60*60*24/1024, I will upload 1.35gb a day, or 41.85gb a month.

I doubt the upload speed would be constant enough... then again... pigs may fly

it's buffered like 20 seconds... then again when I listen to streaming audio myself, it also lags occasionally with the buffer... I'll wait for the testing phase to end before I give it a try...

yes noone you're right because luckily for us theres a little something called "variable bitrate", and its all done through tcp UDP so not every packet that leaves your pc will make it to the basestation, let alone the user. You have to be a tit to honestly stream from your pc to thiers and waste all the bandwith seeing as there are free streaming services (whats that one with 365 in the title, live 365 or summn) that let users make thier own stations and upload single mp3/ogg files which are then streamed to whoever you want it streamed to.

I thought the 3Gig volume is based on upload plus download? So with that you will reach your volume cap quite soon. I do not know if the upload speed will also be capped after you reach your 3Gig but I would assume so.

Looking at my TCPIQ stats I think that they are experimenting with upload capping, at times my upload speed varies between 180 and 220, but at other times it is very constant at around 100 kbps for long periods. Has anyone els noticed the same?
