Uproar over matric rape question

Drama allowed pupils to confront real matters “through the safety of story”, he added.

You can confront the matter without staging the rape of a 9 month old baby using a loaf of Low GI Wholewheat Brown Bread and a broomstick as props. How about using these props in dealing with the aftermath of the rape. The rape doesn't need to be a something that happened onstage.

If I had to answer this question, I would use the bread to lure the rapist to a predetermined location and than proceed beat him to death with the broomstick? :D

This country is seriously ****ed up if this is the subject matter of a drama class. Seeeeriously ****ed...

Apparently the question is linked to a South African play or something.

It is, but totally inappropriate to set as an exam question.

I am extremely broad minded and have been setting exam questions since the 1970's and this certainly takes the cake!

As has been mentioned, how do you actually answer it? Does the most creative answer get the highest mark?

Sadly indicative of the calibre of "teacher" that has filtered into our wonderful new system!

This is seriously fscked up.

Its shocking and it just confirms the perception that the edukation sistem is befok

I'd love to bash the head in of the person that thought of this question and the examiner that approved this question for a matric paper.

It's a drama paper... I don't see the issue.
Look it's a drama paper and one can expect it to be you know creative and blah blah
But this is just twisted man its probably impossible to come up with anything more sick and twisted.

I'm open minded.. but seriously. This is far beyond normal society... rape should be the last thing a pupil thinks about. Why explore such stuff? Out of million options.. take rape?

Edit: Who would like to mark answers to rape questions? Not me...

Durban - A question in the matric dramatic art exam this week, where pupils were asked to describe how they would stage the rape of a baby using a loaf of bread and a broomstick as props, has horrified teachers, parents and pupils.

The Department of Basic Education, however, stood by its decision to include the question, with its spokesman, Elijah Mhlanga, saying that a subject, like the rape of a 9-month-old baby, was “not new” to a Grade 12 pupil.

This is sick, sensitive matters... The responsible person (or group) should apologise and answer this question themselves, while being locked up. What answer do you expect? **** them, all you idiots.
