Can someone please help me understand this ..

OK my friend in the UK contacts me and tell me send me something for my birthday, gave me the tracking and told me i with UPS, about a week later it is in Kemptonpark warehouse, so i make plans to get ready for delivery in a day or so.

The next morning i get an email stating i must pay import duties of R4,651.59 WTF

Apparently i must have an ITAC permit because i am receiving a used prone and earphones (as declared by my friend)

Some manager phoned me, and when i started asking questions, he started shouting at me and told me if i cant get the ITAC the parcel will go to the government warehouse were it will be destroyed (We all know what that means)

It is a google pixel 7 and a set of B&O headphones, they are used as stated but still, do any of you have some advice please

Yeah thats second hand electronics. You cant just import it. Not sure how they came up with the value but you need an importer certificate for those. Not just a regular temu type thing. It works differently with secondhand consumer stuff

yea i came to relize that, when you get your ID at 16 they must somer give you a ITAC permit as well, just for in case someone sends you a birthday present. I am not importing anything, this whole thing is upside down, if you are honist and declare like it is you get this kak, if you dishonist, they just smile and wave
