Happy new year!

We live in a rented unit <there are 2 units> The power tripped yesterday - I went to the board in our flat and turned everything back on. I then heard a ringing noise coming from the laundry room. Opened the trap_door in the laundry_room and saw a "Blazer" UPS. Any idea how to turn/disable the ringing noise? I was under the impression the UPS would 'ring' until main_power had been restored - which it was - within a few minutes. Any ideas?

cheers

If the ringing noise is still audible then power to the UPS has not been restored to it.

not necessarily, the ringing noise could just be an alarm notifying that the power had been out, it could also be a warning alarm in terms of battery failure etc. There are usually mute buttons on the ups interface.

Never heard of that, if that's the case it's pretty dumb design. I mean, why must the UPS buzz to notify power failure? Besides, that is what the beeps are for in the average UPS

So what is the UPS being used for behind a trap door in a laundry room? What size UPS are we talking here anyway?

cheers for the inputs - I tried pressing down the 'knob' up front for 30 seconds, no luck there, still ringing.
Not sure what it is been used for, owner bought the property some time back, he did not know about it...
will try and contact the local distributor.

If you can unplug it you can determine what it is used for. I doubt that it is used for something mission critical like a server, nuke reactor etc.
