DUI charges has nothing to do with the repairs of the car. If you pay the damages of the car in full, the court will shrug and say, OK, let's go on to the DUI charge, if found guilty you could meet pappa or end up with a fine, which you probably can't pay and meet pappa.

Is this about the damage of the car or about paying the fine to avoid meeting pappa?

Not sure what you mean about "meeting pappa" but like I said it was a condition of my suspended sentence, I pay for the damages in full. there was no fine.

Story is'a changin.

Try African Bank. Those people practically hand out loans on scratch cards at the door. I have seen people in so deep with all sorts of circumstances getting a loan from them.

So if you don't pay the damages, you land in jail, Pollsmoor or some state sponsored accommodation like that?

I also struggle to believe that someone can't find a loan shark. Hell, I just Googled "cash loan" and was flooded with search results. This thread is very suspect.

Me too, and lots of them are tempting. I had a serious thought for a moment to take a loan and go to Vilanculos or place like that for a week.

Geriatrix,
I did that too and all I seem to come up with is people like DirectAXis, Bridge Loans, people like that. those are registered financial service providers. Not what i am looking for because they cant help me. And I am sorry you think this is suspect I have tried to be as honest as I can but evidently I have not given the "right" answers or something.

For sure, especially after we suggested getting a better bank account so that you could get legit loans or overdraft facilities and then you said that you can't wait three months. Then it was pointed out that you were mistaken, that you don't need to wait three months, you just need a pay slip or the last 3 months worth of bank statements. Then you said you don't want a new bank account. Well, dude, you duck and dive out of any legit help so I don't know what more we can say.

Also, your story seems highly suspect. Why do you need to pay as soon as possible? Who do you need to pay in particular? What was damaged in the accident? Why can't they wait? Why can't you arrange alternative transport for your friend while you arrange a loan?

The first page of results I got when I Googled "Cash loans" were certainly not DirectAXis, Bridge Loans, ect.

So if you're for real, tell us, how can we help you more than we already have?

To answer in order:
All the links provided were for opening a bank account, NOT getting a loan. EVERY institution I have to till now took onme look at my statements from Bidvest and said "sorry we dont deal with Bidvest clients" "Ok, I said, If I open up a new account with you or ANOTHER bank can you help me then?" "Yes but your salary has to reflect for 3 months from time of opening" Why you cannot seem to believe that I dont know but that is what was told to me. maybe I misunderstood or something, I dont know.

I told you why I need to pay as soon as possible, I have a suspended sentence for DUI dependant on me paying the WHOLE amount for the repair in one shot, that is what was negotiated between the state prosecutor and myself. The car was damaged on the right front, which took out the right front drivetrain and suspension and damaged the gearbox, So it is not mobile.

I dont honestly know how to answer your next statement, perhaps my Google works differently or perhaps I am not as good at using Google as yourself. The VERY first hit I get is Kathlego Loans, who I have ALSO already tried.

To answer your last question, maybe I have the wrong impression of a loan shark as what I am looking for is someone who loans money no questions aksed with a higher than normal interest rate. Perhaps they dont even exist any more in which case I am stuck anyway, not so?

You seem to think I am trying to scam someone and that is not the case. Not ONCE did I ask ANYONE here in the forum for a loan, which is what you seem to be thinking/implying, nor do I expect anyone to loan me anything. I simply thought that SOMEONE here might know someone who is in the "loan shark" business. Again, I apologise for creating any misconceptions.

You should have gotten an attorney instead of negotiating by yourself, or should have negotiated paying the damages in monthly settlements, but that is that now.

Did you try to get a credit card, instead of a personal loan?

Well if you told us all this from the start you wouldn't be getting these suspect posts, and I don't blame anyone for being suspicious. Though if you dumb enough to lend people money over the internet then you have yourself to blame.

Dude I opened by bank account with standard bank with a single statement, perhaps since I was a student banker first I don't know much about banks

Are you blacklisted and have a criminal record ? Maybe thays why the banks are declining your application for a loan.

Also you say you 50 and have no family? No cousins no children no siblings? Strange. Perhaps ask your landlord and you will pay him back in a boosted rent since you claim to have a job.

I will say what I think is going on, you a former junkie that probably ruined your life and everyone has abandoned you hence no family. You probably got arrested and now have a very difficult time getting back into society. This will also explain your fears for arrest a second arrest will probably have you seeing some epic time. Am I off ?

No I did not try to get a credit card as I do not see how that could have helped me. Sorry evidently I am really dof when it comes to finances.
Anyway, I am leaving now as it is 5 and it is time to go home. Again thank you all for your assistance.

Way off regarding the junkie part, I am AT LEAST proud to say I have NEVER done drugs, except alcohol.
As regarding blacklisted, I will be honest here and say I dont know, but lets err on the side of caution and say probably. Criminal record, well yes, DUI.

Strange I have no family? Why? My mother and father are both passed away, I have never had any real contact with any of their sides of the family, and I am an only child. Why on earth is that so strange?

yeh I was also thinking just apply for a credit card, you should qualify for a credit of around R15k - R25k, just use that to pay for the so called car repairs - heck virginmoney will give you one, you dont have to bank with them - also bidvest probably have card options as well and it only takes a few days to get one - you can also try bluebean and others - maybe at the end of the day you will end up with 3 - 4 credit cards with a credit of around R80k - imagine the fun you could have at the horses then....sorry I meant fix friends cars wink wink, nudge nudge

Just browsed this page of the thread so don't know if you have tried the classifieds in your local newpapers (English & Afrikaans).

You'd normally find loansharks around the personal services columns.

Aww damn guess my person reading skills suck :(

But if you still have those family around why don't you phone them? They family man try what you got to lose other than some airtime

I don't believe you because I know it's not accurate. Like I said. My wife opened an account with FNB recently and she used 3 months PAST bank statements from her previous bank. They immediately offered her an overdraft facility and credit card. If the banks truly gave you the story above, I suggest going to other branches.

Only R22 000? Sounds like a really good deal. Very, very good deal.

I'm very suspicious, yes. We get scammers on internet forums often. If you are sincere you'll get solid advice. I still maintain, your best bet is a qualified financial adviser at a bank. Get them to discuss your situation with the state prosecutor. I'm sure they will be reasonable when presented with a viable plan of action.
