Sorry if i'm being a retard now, but can you explain that to me in even simpler terms please? Just so i can rule it in or out you know... I'm at the point where i am going to be asking some really STUPID questions if it means getting to the bottom of this...

He means even if there are only 9 users, every user may have several connections to the server. (If I understand him correctly. He may also mean the server has it's own connections, for example to the internet.)

I.e., even if there is only one cable from a workstation to the server, it does not necessarily count as one connection.

A concurrent connection means that a user connects to the server for file service, printer and database = 3 concurrent connections, The next user is just file services which means +1 = 4, the next one connects to a printer and file server +2 = 6.

Easy way to test is reboot the server with nobody connected to it and try connect a new device to this folder you are having issues with, if that that is it not giving you hassles, I would point it to the concurrent connections to the server.

Hi everyone, firstly, thanks to you all again for the Assistance! Always good to know MyBB is there to assist!

So... I have come right.. well mostly! What i have done now is mapped his laptop to various folders on the shared drive. The accountant can now see the Pastel and VIP databases from his laptop and work again :love:

I still dont understand why i cant map the entire drive (E:\) as a whole to his laptop and can only map specified folders in that drive...
EG: Can't map "\\SERVER/" but CAN map "\\SERVER/Pastel11"

But... the bottom line is that the accountant is able to work again :)

File / Folder permissions on the 'server' maybe ??
 
when you logon to the "server", instead of putting just the username, put computername\username

like this server\carsten
 
Definitely the way the root drive is shared. It's a bit of a mission to share those in 7 (and get all the right permissions, plus you may still need to change local policies), and even more tricky with no centralised domain security. You're better off sharing folders as you have now done.

Too right mate, looks like sharing per folder instead of the drive as a whole is the way forward
