Good point however there is a time and a place where an age gap does and does not matter.
Take for example 10 year old and 17 year old. It is ok only 7 years.
Being 20, I know that most youth have probably being doing what knows since they were 12/13. Just because they are not innocent does not make it right.

That 'most' is highly dependent on the group you know. 12-13 year olds in most non dysfunctional societies don't reach sexual debut.
But a 10 yr old is prepubescent so that would be an inappropriate coupling. A 16 yr old has an adult body with a developing adult mind. In the eyes of the law a 16 yr old is not considered illegal. Obviously there are immature and mature 16 yr olds too.
Sexually mature and not sexually mature yes. Intellectually mature, no.
Maybe after 24-25.
Oh please, all that you are proving is your own ignorance. You are/or will be one of those fathers that reprimand your 16 year old daughter for smoking at the kitchen table in front of her children. Good luck looking after those grand kids, while little miss mature finishes her high school diploma.

I'm a mother of a 16 yr old boy and I know what the 16 yr old girls in his class are involved in...the girls are WAY more advanced in the dating/sex game than the guys. The guys are still into their sports, cars and computer games and the 16 yr old girls are all on the prowl for older guys. They wouldn't even consider dating the 16 yr old boys.
Well you think its “cool” so we can all see how you will be raising them. And just because the law says it’s so doesn’t make 16 year old girls having sex right.
You can't generalise. I bought a house and was living on my own from the age of 22.
Same here (well almost, I’m the father) and it’s not easy, the question was if you think it’s right, not weather it happens or not. Would you encourage your teen daughter to date an adult?
Yes, but would you say you had the same outlook then as you do now?
No-one is saying it's right. It happens, and there's not much you can do about it except raise your kids so they're able to make their own responsible decisions when it comes to sexual relationships.

I'll be raising them the exact way I was raised ....... and I and my siblings came out just fine.
Pretty much the same. I'd say the biggest change in my outlook has been political but my core principles haven't changed. In fact I'm probably more liberal now (24 yrs down the line).
She could date a eunuch. I'd be happy to arrange the conversion
