It's common bru, especially in Cape Town.
I had a friend who was 15 and she was seeing a 25 year old.
Parents hated it, but they let her make her own choices.
They apparently broke up last year after being with each other for 3 years.
Meet the guy, see what he is like first, don't judge him.
Besides, you can't help where love hits... but you can care, just don't be a 'toss' about it... give the guy a chance.
PS: I have a 16 year old who is inlove with me... I'm 25, only difference is, I think its a puppy love thing but if you could see the sms's she sends me, oh boy...

Dude, chicks mature alot faster than guys do.
When I go out, I meet alot of girls who get into clubs who are under-age but because they look older (especially edgemead chicks) guys chat, and hook up etc.
I've always believed that age is but a number
So long the girl in question knows the difference between right and wrong... let her make her own choices.
You can stop her yes, but then she'll find a way to do it behind your back... what do you want... VISIBLE things happening or INVISIBLE?
You h ave to just have faith that 'they' know what they doing and that 'they' have been taught well (aids, pregnancies etc etc etc)
In my mind I agree with you, but in my heart I don't.
I'm 24 and as a young man I have to remind myself constantly that girls, although how sexy, may be younger than I'm allowed to even look at.
The difference is though, if she told me she was 16, I would definitely not pursue it, or at least try my best not to, but if she lied to me about her age, there's nothing I can do.

Tricky situation. imo you have to separate "I don't agree with it" and "I think he is a pedophile". The first is reasonable, the second is making the situation worse.
Quite honestly, I think you'll do more damage if you try to stop it...then the thing will take its natural course but without you having *any* control over it. So I think your best bet is to not prohibit it...but to set some strict rules.
If I were in your situation I'd also not be happy with it.

He has a valid point. At 24 I act and live much the same as I was 20 or even 18. It's not my fault at the end of day whom I'm attracted to, but it is my responsibility as an adult not to go for girls, but rather young woman. Young girls these day, look like young women, even if you don't believe me.

The problem is, Mr OP is auto going to think of the guy as a pedo when he meets him, I suggest dropping that attitude and giving the guy a fair chance.

My first experience of this was working in edgemead, I saw this hot girl, she had a great body... I thought she was at least 18/19.
I asked someone about her (because in edgemead, everyone knows everyone) and I found out she was 12!

I've met the dad dude, the dad likes me, I like him.
I'm sure if he was to find out that I was sleeping with his daughter, i'd have his blessings because he knows he brought his daughter up well.
Trust me, this chick has her brains on her head.

i agree with you guys, making your daughter not being allowed to see the guy is going to be the most wrong thing to do. at least she wants you to meet him, meaning that she thinks you'll approve. Most don't let their parents even know.

While you're concerned, and rightfully so, it still doesn't give you the right to misunderstand the terminology. A pedophile (US spelling), add an A, for
UK English, is someone who is 'sexually attracted' to pre-pubescent children - and that is defined as younger than 13. So unless your daughter looks
12 or less, he is not a pedophile. Still I think she is too young to be dating a guy that age and arguably too young to be dating a boy of any age - unless he knows very well that you will kill him if he does something nasty with her.

If I have kids, I will always expect them to be open and honest with me, if my daughter came to me at 16 and said she wanted to date a older guy (most girls are into this) then I'd expect her to know all the rights and wrongs, taught by myself / school and generally common sense.
