Vindman steps down and accuses Trump of retaliation

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a key witness in President Donald Trump's impeachment inquiry, is retiring from the US Army after more than 21 years of military service because he determined that his future in the armed forces "will forever be limited" due to political retaliation by the President and his allies, his lawyer told CNN Wednesday.

Vindman has endured a "campaign of bullying, intimidation, and retaliation" spearheaded by the President following his testimony in the impeachment inquiry last year, according to his attorney, Amb. David Pressman.
News of Vindman's retirement marks the culmination of a months-long saga dating back to his public testimony in November.

Trump fired Vindman as the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council in February and also ousted his twin brother who also played a key role in impeachment proceedings while serving at the White House as an NSC lawyer.
In recent weeks, the controversy has centered around allegations that the White House was attempting to block Vindman's upcoming military promotion to the rank of colonel.


"The President of the United States attempted to force LTC Vindman to choose: Between adhering to the law or pleasing a President. Between honoring his oath or protecting his career. Between protecting his promotion or the promotion of his fellow soldiers," Pressman said in a statement to CNN.

"These are choices that no one in the United States should confront, especially one who has dedicated his life to serving it," he added, noting that Vindman "did what the law compelled him to do; and for that he was bullied by the President and his proxies."

This is what happens when you don't read history of your own country and take inspiration from it. Imagine all the american civil rights activists giving up after such a vicious "campaign of bullying, intimidation"

President Donald Trump’s academic history is coming under scrutiny as a new book alleges he cheated his way into college.

Those accusations are more than a little ironic given his frequent and unsubstantiated claims that former President Barack Obama was a “terrible student.”

Mary Trump, the president’s niece, reportedly writes in Too Much And Never Enough that Trump paid someone to take the SAT to get a high score on his behalf, according to The New York Times.

The White House told Business Insider that the allegations were “completely false.” But the accusations that Trump cheated his way into school paint his own past allegations against Obama in a new light.

“I heard he was a terrible student, terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?” Trump told The Associated Press in 2011. “I’m thinking about it, I’m certainly looking into it. Let him show his records.”

Obama graduated from Columbia with a BA in political science in 1983 and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1991. While at Harvard, he was the first Black president of Harvard Law Review.

Back in 2012, Trump also repeatedly demanded that Obama release his school transcripts. But Trump has refused to release his own academic records and even had his attorney threaten anyone who might reveal them.

Michael Cohen, Trump’s longtime personal lawyer who ultimately turned on him, admitted in Congressional testimony that he was ordered by Trump “to threaten his high school, his colleges and the College Board to never release his grades or SAT scores.”

This is much ado about nothing. Trump knows the best words and I'm sure that he would have aced the SAT had he written it.

I find Cook quite conservative in their predictions as well.

Just so everyone understands: they are predicting a win for Biden without winning any of 'toss up' states. Betting and prediction markets have already moved strongly in favour of Biden in Arizona, Florida and NC.

Yesterday, ICE directed to have 1.1 million international students studying in the US to be ineligible to abode in the US. Since many universities have moved to online teaching due to COVID, the Trump administration decided this was the perfect time to deport these students. Luckily, Trump is against this and tweeted this:

Technically only at the Democratic convention, which will be mid-August. Because that's when the party formally chooses their nominee and running mate.

But normally candidates announce them earlier. Think Biden said he'll do it at the start of August.
