100% agreed that their censorship also played a role in the early spread. I'm no fan of the Chinese government.

But should we rename names of diseases to shift blame? If so, what's the purpose and ramification?
It isn't about blaming anyone. It is simply about calling a disease from where it originated.
It comes with the territory of how people name things. I don't call my Chinese takeaway: calorific fuel that originated from the 3rd rock from the sun.

And if you look at the outbreak now, maybe it would be better if we called it the Mamma Mia MeatBall Virus.

Chinese Carona virus is inline with the conventional naming methodology, how all viruses are named. Renaming it covid 19 is the Chinese attempt at censorship.

Trump is angering 1.4 billion Chinese people. Big mistake.
No he is angering the Chinese government.

Most Chinese people won't know what the Trumpenfuherer is saying because the Chinese block anything criticial of the Chinese government.

Interesting. I looked up what you wrote, and it appears to be the case. But then it should be called Wuhan coronavirus, not Chinese coronavirus.

Maybe Trump is right about coronavirus. The experts in the UK seem to think that there shouldn't be a lockdown, as does the government of Brazil. Maybe they'll be laughing at the reast of the world in a few weeks' time.

Opinion?

In order to soothe the burnt a*&eholes of SJWs the Spanish flu will be renamed to the White People flu and German measles will be renamed to Hitler's rash.

Ok, so Weijia Jiang is lying? What else is invalid about our experiences?

Something tells me your views on AA and BEE is valid however

Because at least 72% of Democrats are this guy.

90% of Republicans are this guy.

And LOL at people arguing with me about Trump and what he says and what people believe. 90% ...

Are Spanish really white though?

I'm open to this bolded idea. But can you expand on it? How is it the Chinese's fault for the outbreak, I can say their toleration of wet markets helps spread zootropic diseases but curious on your take on this.

The wet markets, sure. They were supposed to be outlawed after previous outbreaks, and they were re-opened.

After the SARS outbreak in 2003, which was traced to a wet market in the southern Guangdong Province, a temporary ban on wet markets and the wild-animal industry were put in place. In July of that year, the World Health Organization declared the SARS virus contained, and in August the Chinese government lifted the ban.

The subsequent cover up, including the silencing of doctors trying to spread awareness, makes this the Chinese government's fault for the outbreak. As much I distrust Trump and co, if the Chinese government tells me the sky is blue, I'm assuming that the sky is brown.

It still doesn't mean what Trump is trying to do is right. We can call AIDs the African virus - do you think Africans will be offended, and perhaps, targeted? (obviously very different diseases in terms of transmissions and vector).

I don't believe he meant it as any kind of dog-whistle to racists, more of a way of creating a diversion away from his administration's mishandling of the situation. I wish he would put out statements condemning any acts of racism against Asians. If he has, I am unaware and I'm sure I'll be corrected.

It's called COVID19 and is a type of novel coronavirus. Attempts to change the naming is political in nature and has ramifications for people.

It definitely does, but that shouldn't stop us calling it what it is - a pandemic that was caused by the actions of the Chinese government.

Let me put it this way - it's the same as when certain factions call for the death of the US, because of actions taken by the US government. Aunt Mabel isn't at fault for millions of Middle-Eastern deaths, but the US government sure is.

The outcome if they're wrong won't see them laughing. The governments of all three countries are a joke. Bolsanaro thinks the virus is a nothing to worry about.

But in his five-minute address – which sparked loud protests in both Rio and São Paulo - Bolsonaro railed against such steps and attacked the media for spreading a “feeling of dread” among the population by reporting on the death toll in Italy.

“Our lives have to go on. Jobs must be kept … we must, yes, get back to normal,” Bolsonaro said as his government’s health officials announced that the number of deaths in Brazil had risen to 46 with more than 2,200 cases.

“A small number of state and municipal authorities must abandon their scorched-earth ideas: the banning of public transport, the closing of commerce and mass confinement,” Bolsonaro said.

“What is happening around the world has shown that the at-risk group are those over 60 years old. So why close schools? … Ninety per cent of us will show no sign [of infection] if we are infected.”
