^LOL

Hilarious that you seem to think "he listens to what I say" is a good defence of Trump's behaviour.

Maybe he listens (I doubt it), but then he goes ahead and spouts BS anyway.

In the same interview, when the interviewer points out Trump's penchant for lying, he said this:

Shown up by his own article, so back to tinfoil again or trolling. You choose.

No, no - that doesn't count. He doesn't say what Gnarls wants him to say so ignore it.

Another strawman. The point was how do you reconcile the lockdown with the economic and societal devastation? As asked before, have you see the jobless claims? But sure, in Orbital's head I'm asking you to ignore it.

Governor Cuomo for president!
Isn't it a bit late now. We all know Biden will fail but Cuomo won't make it either he will just be another Bloomberg, but without all the Billions.

Already answered

where?

You can’t reconcile it with the economy. The only thing you can do is shut down the virus as early as possible to minimize the damage a longer shutdown later will cause. Those are your only choices I’m afraid. Half measures such as the US is taking now will just drag out the pain longer and longer. See what was said above about Austria.

Yeah no.....

Economists:

Question B: Abandoning severe lockdowns at a time when the likelihood of a resurgence in infections remains high will lead to greater total economic damage than sustaining the lockdowns to eliminate the resurgence risk.

0% disagree

Yeah, but what about easing them and not totally abandoning them?

Economists at the Fed’s St. Louis district project total employment reductions of 47 million, which would translate to a 32.1% unemployment rate, according to a recent analysis of how bad things could get.

Also:

The longer the suppression lasts, history shows, the worse such outcomes will be. A surge of unemployment in 1982 cut the life spans of Americans by a collective two to three million years, researchers found. During the last recession, from 2007-2009, the bleak job market helped spike suicide rates in the United States and Europe, claiming the lives of 10,000 more people than prior to the downturn. This time, such effects could be even deeper in the weeks, months and years ahead if, as many business and political leaders are warning, the economy crashes and unemployment skyrockets to historic levels.

A Machiavellian take on this, is that Trump is doing these people a favour by starving them a bit as obesity is a serious co-morbidity for covid-19.

He could do with a bit of starving himself

So you don't think that people can be healthy at any size?

Well that makes you a Nazi...
“We should be critical of the use of science and the production of knowledge to continue promoting this idea that certain bodies are fit, able, and desirable...is it my fatness that causes my high blood pressure, or is it my experience of weight stigma?" Rashatwar asked. She then connected the science suggesting that obesity is unhealthy to Nazism, saying that "fatphobic" science is “often actually eugenic science....eugenic science is Nazi science.”

However, she then pivoted to support scientific findings as she pondered “intentionally pursuing weight loss,” claiming that “what we’re discovering scientifically is that that’s not possible.”

After addressing the topic of science and making her claim that there is no connection between high blood pressure and obesity, Rashatwar turned to discuss political philosophy and policy.

“This conversation about pushing off our own wellbeing onto the individual is part of these 1980s Reagan era policies that again try to move that structural obligation of a system and this social safety net onto the individual," Rashatwar said, "instead of thinking that there should be social supports that also help me to subsidize my food costs."

Governor Cuomo exudes a strong alpha male quality, don't you think?

Ok it sounds like now you're the one disregarding the experts on this. But sure, why not try an eased shutdown approach? I'm open for that, but the thing is you know what you need? Leadership and a strong plan that doesn't change day by day, and the backing of the Federal government and health experts. And not just one malignant narcissist bloviating about his ratings and attacking the press for asking difficult questions, and blaming everyone else and incapable of admitting when they've screwed up, and firing people who set off alarms.

The reality of the situation is that Trump f***ed up Coronavirus nearly worse than it's possible to f*** something up, given the resources at his disposal. He wasted so much time just hoping it wouldn't turn out to be as bad as all the experts said it would, for no other reason than that he wanted to protect his own election. By the time they turned around and admitted that it was a real problem, the damage was already done. He should have shut down the country 2 months ago when the first cases started to arrive, then deployed all his resources to preventing it from spreading inside the US.

At this point there's nothing much to do. The economy is inevitably going to suffer and I think it will be worse if you try an eased approach, but no matter what happens it's going to be ugly. While the rest of the world is slowly coming out of their economic shutdowns, America is only at the beginning.

I'm not. The question posed was about abandoning them. As to the second paragraph, you're looking at this with hindsight bias. As Dr. Fauci mentioned we just didn't know, we still don't have all the information we need hence models are changing almost daily.
