I'm not. The question posed was about abandoning them.

Abandoning whom?

As to the second paragraph, you're looking at this with hindsight bias. As Dr. Fauci mentioned we just didn't know, we still don't have all the information we need hence models are changing almost daily.

Oh come on, this is not a question of hindsight. Coronavirus was a slow-rolling disaster that was visible from miles away. Trump just didn't want to listen to bad news. There's nothing more complicated than that. And also, he fired the unit that should have been able to handle the pandemic response in the early stages, and probably spent months obdurately ignoring anyone who tried to warn him what was coming.

He even ordered a travel ban on China fairly early on, indicating he did know that something was coming. But he was completely incapable of doing what was needed and making the sacrifices that would have actually halted its progress. Now they're on 11,000 deaths and nearly 400,000 cases - far higher than any other country, and that's still a low estimate of the reality.

Restrictions.

Of course it is. It seems you're disagreeing with the expert now.

C'mon, you can throw out half the rest of the countries out because their population is so low.

And they are testing 150-300k a day. That is huge, by any reckoning. In the last 6 days, they have tested more than the total Germany have tested. The last 4 days, more than Spain. The last 3 days, more than Italy or South Korea.

Give credit where credit is due. The US don't **** around, no matter which ****tard is in charge slowing them down.

I was just pointing out the figure because of how Trump is spinning it. He keeps politicising it, invoking Obama and how he inherited a broken testing system, while boasting how many Americans are now being tested.

A Machiavellian take on this, is that Trump is doing these people a favour by starving them a bit as obesity is a serious co-morbidity for covid-19.
Last I checked Trump wasn't the most svelte person around...

I see you're retreating to 1 sentence responses again, oh well it was fun while it lasted.

No, I just referred to what the Dr. said to Acosta.

Dr. Fauci added, "In a perfect world, it would have been nice to know what was going on there, and we didn’t,” he said. “But I believe, Jim, that we acted very, very early in that."

Which contradicts your narrative. This has also been posted.

More like a Nazism take on it. Eugenics and all.
People losing a bit of weight because the government isn't buying them chicken tendies isn't eugenics.

You have to be careful with the definitions here. Eugenics refers to the intentional practice of genetic selection of people, in other words, using force to decide who and who cannot have children. You can add this to the many reasons why that retarded fat-positive leftist was wrong.

“We’re the ones that kept China out of here.” - Trump

Even after the order went into effect on February 2, some 40,000 people – traveling on 279 flights – have arrived in the U.S. from China

Yes then I'm contradicting Fauci, who is simply not in a position to be frank about the failure to act on time. In his own words:

A: I know, but what do you want me to do? I mean, seriously Jon, let’s get real, what do you want me to do?

Proof for your insinuation? Not a sarcastic question btw, China always dodge.
1) No form of the truth can exist in a country like China where the government will arrest you if you say something the government doesn't want.
2) This is going to be a bit controversial, but the fact that they covered everything up means that they also didn't react to it for 2 months. Which would have allowed the virus to be spread rapidly throughout their country, causing a herd immunity effect. In the US and other countries, there was a non-government response in terms of people washing their hands and such.

This guy explains it more.

You can actually see this in the data we have available, even the data that we know to be a bit dodgy.

Now something you need to know about all reporting of these graphs is that they are between 1 and 2 weeks behind what is happening because the disease is asymptomatic for 1-2 weeks (and because of testing time etc).
As many experts have cautioned, even up-to-the-minute maps are effectively operating with a delay. Infected people can take up to 14 days to develop symptoms, and they might wait even longer for a test — if they’re tested at all. So it takes a while to see the effects of social distancing and quarantine measures.

“There is this literal lag in the data,” Virginia Tech biostatistics expert Ronald Fricker tells The Verge. “You always have to be thinking: what I’m observing today is a result of what we chose to do a couple of weeks ago. That’s a critical piece that I think a lot of people don’t quite get.” Cases will climb even after lockdowns have started taking effect, and deaths can spike well after a serious outbreak because patients may spend weeks in treatment.

The peak for this graph lies between the 23 and 27 of January. Which means that in reality, it peaked somewhere between 9th and 16th and the 13th and 20th to be quite charitable. Here is the damming part, the Chinese government only instituted lock down measures on the 23rd. Which is outside of the possible time that the disease might have peaked.

Wasn't that from Trump being Trump in his press cons?

It was related to Trump claiming that his Chinese travel ban had effectively stopped the spread of the virus, and blaming China for not disclosing the virus:

Q: What about the travel restrictions? Trump keeps saying that the travel ban for China, which began 2 February, had a big impact on slowing the spread of the virus to the United States and that he wishes China would have told us 3 to 4 months earlier and that they were “very secretive.” (China did not immediately reveal the discovery of a new coronavirus in late December 2019, but by 10 January, Chinese researchers made the sequence of the virus public.) It just doesn’t comport with facts.

A: I know, but what do you want me to do? I mean, seriously Jon, let’s get real, what do you want me to do?

Q: Most everyone thinks that you’re doing a remarkable job, but you’re standing there as the representative of truth and facts, and things are being said that aren’t true and aren’t factual.

A: The way it happened is that after he made that statement [suggesting China could have revealed the discovery of a new coronavirus 3 to 4 months earlier], I told the appropriate people, it doesn’t comport, because 2 or 3 months earlier would have been September. The next time they sit down with him and talk about what he’s going to say, they will say, “By the way, Mr. President, be careful about this and don’t say that.” But I can’t jump in front of the microphone and push him down. OK, he said it. Let’s try and get it corrected for the next time.

Trump blasts HHS watchdog for report on hospital shortages

President Donald Trump on Monday blasted his health department's watchdog for a new report revealing supply shortages and testing delays at hospitals responding to the coronavirus crisis, claiming the findings were inaccurate and politically motivated.

"It's just wrong," Trump said during a briefing of the White House coronavirus task force, without providing evidence detailing what was incorrect.

"It still could be her opinion. When was she appointed? Do me a favor and let me know. Let me know now. I have to know," the president said in response to a question about the findings.

Trump's comments were directed at Principal Deputy Inspector General Christi Grimm and prompted by a report based on interviews with administrators from 324 hospitals and health systems between March 23 to March 27.
