I know what you mean.
But I was certainly around 20 years ago - and around gay people, too , quite a lot - and I didn't see much acheived by spectacles.
I saw a lot more being acheived by legislation and reason.
Honestly, people who are scared of teh Gay are much more likely to be persuaded by reason than by spectacle.
The pride rallies were what helped push the issues faced by gay people into the legislature. It made the subject topical and not taboo.

And the primary expression of that fight is black/gay pride
Yes.

When prominent politicians, religious groups and various groups still see homosexuality as a some kind of evil condition, in 2020, then gay people have every reason to go out and march and express themselves for who they are.

News just in.... Donald J Trump resurrected from the dead!!!
Said to be favourite in the 2020 Presidential race.

Oh ****. I find I have to agree with Emjay on this one.

Let’s say you grew up not only having rights denied to you, but also being told that what you were - a core part of your identity - was inferior, dirty, sinful, embarrassing. Part of the fight for equality is affirming that you and people like you don’t need to be ashamed of what they are - that’s the essence of pride movements. It’s a nonviolent public expression of your own worth in a society that, through media, religion, norms, and laws, denigrates you because of your identity.

On the other hand white pride is affirming the superiority of your own race above another, and your right to not have to live among people of another race. It’s hugely, fundamentally, different from black/gay pride and I’m a little shocked that you can’t see that.

You realize this only works if you believe whites are superior?

Your lack of self awareness continues to amaze me.

Nothing wrong with white pride. Not that their really is such a thing as a hegemonic white group, white people come from a large variety of different tribes.

The white pride is generally centered along cultural/tribal or even national lines.

That's also kinda why black pride doesn't really work, just skin tone is to impersonal of a thing to be proud about. It's to broad.
The US as done a bit bet by throwing "African" into everything. But I don't think it's close enough yet.

Your random emboldening is perplexing
You claimed:
but also being told that what you were - a core part of your identity - was inferior, dirty, sinful, embarrassing

Yet you state:
On the other hand white pride is affirming the superiority of your own race above another, and your right to not have to live among people of another race.

You want to claim that X pride is good because other people viewed a core part of their identity as "inferior, dirty, sinful, embarrassing", yet in the very next sentence, you literally do that by stating that white pride is horrible and evil.
Can you get some consistency?

And if you want my view on it, it is stupid to celebrate stuff that you have no choice in. If someone wants to make their skin colour, or who they are attracted to a core part of their identity, then they are a pretty useless creature.

Black/gay pride is not about believing that your race/identity is superior to any other.

Black/gay pride is not about believing that your race/identity is superior to any other.
What is wrong with being superior?

Lol I can't understand how the leftie clown world works were we are supposed do celebrate mediocrity because being good is bad.

Black/gay pride is not about believing that your race/identity is superior to any other.
And neither is white pride.
For example, someone put up a sign saying "its ok to be white". Which is a categorical statement of normality. It doesn't state that being white is superior to anything.
What happened:
The stickers were posted on lampposts and drainpipes throughout the city at the weekend.

John Swinney, who is also MSP for Perthshire North, said the "atrocious" stickers had "no place in Perth or any other part of our country."

Police Scotland said it was "currently looking into the matter."

Posting on Twitter, Mr Swinney said: "We must stand together to resist this unacceptable material."

And you were stating right now that it is a horrible thing when a core part of your identity shown to be " inferior, dirty, sinful, embarrassing."
