The pride rallies were what helped push the issues faced by gay people into the legislature. It made the subject topical and not taboo.I know what you mean.
But I was certainly around 20 years ago - and around gay people, too , quite a lot - and I didn't see much acheived by spectacles.
I saw a lot more being acheived by legislation and reason.
Honestly, people who are scared of teh Gay are much more likely to be persuaded by reason than by spectacle.
Yes.And the primary expression of that fight is black/gay pride
Oh ****. I find I have to agree with Emjay on this one.No. The fight for equal rights are central facets to their movements.

I'll never get over my elitism - I'm way too special to do that.If you could get past your very over the top hate for Trump (and all of your elitism), you would actually notice we share many views.

On the other hand white pride is affirming the superiority of your own race above another, and your right to not have to live among people of another race. It’s hugely, fundamentally, different from black/gay pride and I’m a little shocked that you can’t see that.
You realize this only works if you believe whites are superior?
Let’s say you grew up not only having rights denied to you, but also being told that what you were - a core part of your identity - was inferior, dirty, sinful, embarrassing. Part of the fight for equality is affirming that you and people like you don’t need to be ashamed of what they are - that’s the essence of pride movements. It’s a nonviolent public expression of your own worth in a society that, through media, religion, norms, and laws, denigrates you because of your identity.

Your lack of self awareness continues to amaze me.
Nothing wrong with white pride. Not that their really is such a thing as a hegemonic white group, white people come from a large variety of different tribes.Let’s say you grew up not only having rights denied to you, but also being told that what you were - a core part of your identity - was inferior, dirty, sinful, embarrassing. You claimed:Your random emboldening is perplexing

You claimed:
Yet you state:
You want to claim that X pride is good because other people viewed a core part of their identity as "inferior, dirty, sinful, embarrassing", yet in the very next sentence, you literally do that by stating that white pride is horrible and evil.
Can you get some consistency?
And if you want my view on it, it is stupid to celebrate stuff that you have no choice in. If someone wants to make their skin colour a core part of their identity, then they are a pretty useless creature.
What is wrong with being superior?Black/gay pride is not about believing that your race/identity is superior to any other.

And neither is white pride.Black/gay pride is not about believing that your race/identity is superior to any other.

Police Scotland said it was "currently looking into the matter."
Posting on Twitter, Mr Swinney said: "We must stand together to resist this unacceptable material."
