Trump calls the virus "a brilliant enemy." He adds, "Antibiotics used to solve every problem" but now "the germ has gotten so brilliant that the antibiotic can't keep up with it." He adds, "There's a whole genius to it." He adds of the virus, "It's hidden, but it's very smart."

De Blasio is finished.

Cuomo will win any election he runs in for the rest of his life and...

... the clown will be a burden on taxpayers long after he’s dead. He’ll get a presidential burial but without 24-hour security I don’t see how his grave won’t become a urine wetland.

Indeed, his polls are beginning to crater. -14 on Rasmussen, 50.8 disapprove on 538, it’s just downhill from here. This is his Katrina moment, except many many times worse than Katrina.

In addition, the clown's businesses are about to get bailout money. I've no objection to this in principle, as they too are suffering from the fallout of coronavirus, except that the clown got rid of the inspector general who would have been responsible for oversight of the bailout money, and has nominated a Trump lackey in his place. The clown's businesses are massively debt ridden, and I fear that the clown will help his businesses to more bailout money than is their due.

I don't think that people are blaming, or will blame, Trump for the economic crisis; I don't, and I'm not even a Trump supporter.

And yet, he bears a lot of the blame for the scale of the economic crisis. He didn’t cause the virus but he hasn’t done anything except make the situation worse through his ineptitude, and it will be the same with the economy after the shutdown is over. The federal response continues to be an abysmal joke and the numbers are off the charts bad.

But it's that way in many countries. I saw a video of a British doctor who expressed outrage that doctors there had to treat coronavirus patients without the proper protective equipment.

By November, the coronavirus pandemic will hopefully be under control. Trump's earlier mistakes in his handling of the crisis, grave as they were, will have been forgotten by then. His supporters have, over the years, rationalised and forgiven so many of his other transgressions and faults, that I just don't see this as the event that will sink him.
