Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to argue with you. I appreciate you explaining this to me. It just baffles me - its almost selfish!

I'm not on their side on this, but you have to understand that most of these people are normally non-voters anyway. They're not interested in mainstream politics because it doesn't address their lives directly. They skew much younger than normal Democratic base voters, for instance. So you could also say that they just aren't interested in the squabbling between Dems and Repubs for the most part unless there's a platform that they can get behind.

Biden has made it clear where he stands on these issues, and its not with the progressives. He has already said he would veto universal health care. That didnt wooh over the progressives. The only reason a progressive would vote for Biden is because they are part of the "anyone but Trump" crowd. As none of their issues are being addressed (if anything, theyve been let know that whats important to them will be thrown out).

If you want to get good progressive news, then I would recommend following "The Hill" on Youtube. They are a very vocal voice for the progressives and they are not jumping on the Biden wagon. They are really angry at how Biden has snubbed some of their issues.

Of course. He should rather do what the South African government has done and get rid of that pesky free economy. Then he should get congress to setup a bunch of working committees that decides on exactly who should do what and where. They can get experts in to decide exactly how much resources should go where, and what jobs people are allowed to do and are not allowed to do. That way we can control the evils of capitalism coronavirus and be free of it for the foreseeable future.

I think he will get about half the progressives. Even with Warren, what is the platform the younger progressives can get behind? As cerebus pointed out earlier, they dont care about the Dem vs Rep fight as much as other people. They need issue based platforms (ones that are important to them, such as universal healthcare and education) they can get behind.

With Joe in office progressives can pressure, and the pressure can move the needle. With Donnie there, not so much.

Also, we're all shooting a little wide of the mark... Sure, the White House but equally, if not more important is the Senate, and much as I'd love a whole bunch of new progressive Senators, the reality is the centre is where the fight will be... and down-ballot, Joe is better for Democrats right now.

Four years time when we're clear of Donnie, Covid and the economy is picking up, I recon we'll see a proper move left.

Honestly I think he has a pretty good chance of beating Trump. The dude is teflon. Trump managed a spectacular own-goal with Burisma and it didn't seem to have any effect on Biden, and now there's no way Trump can use it in his campaign. I mean, nobody's very excited about Biden but everyone's excited about getting rid of the shitcan in the WH, so he doesn't even need to generate much energy himself.

While Warren has superpacs supporting her, AOC is like Bernie, her support comes from lots of little donations rather than big corporate donations. Her base is strong.
