Republicans secretly study their coming hell

Axios has obtained a spreadsheet that's circulated through Republican circles on and off Capitol Hill — including at least one leadership office — that meticulously previews the investigations Democrats will likely launch if they flip the House.

Here are some of the probes it predicts:

  • President Trump’s tax returns
  • Trump family businesses — and whether they comply with the Constitution's emoluments clause, including the Chinese trademark grant to the Trump Organization
  • Trump's dealings with Russia, including the president's preparation for his meeting with Vladimir Putin
  • The payment to Stephanie Clifford — a.k.a. Stormy Daniels
  • James Comey's firing
  • Trump's firing of U.S. attorneys
  • Trump's proposed transgender ban for the military
  • Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's business dealings
  • White House staff's personal email use
  • Cabinet secretary travel, office expenses, and other misused perks
  • Discussion of classified information at Mar-a-Lago
  • Jared Kushner's ethics law compliance
  • Dismissal of members of the EPA board of scientific counselors
  • The travel ban
  • Family separation policy
  • Hurricane response in Puerto Rico
  • Election security and hacking attempts
  • White House security clearance

Matt Yglesias makes a good point about this.

It’s very 2018 that Republicans have identified a list of pressing areas where more congressional oversight is needed and instead of doing the oversight, have turned it into a spooky story about why they need to win in November to avoid doing the oversight.

Source: In Stunning Reversal, Michael Cohen's Attorney Backpedals On Trump-Russia Claims
CNN reported in July that Cohen claimed to have witnessed Trump approving the meeting between Trump Jr. and Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya, arranged by an associate of opposition research firm Fusion GPS.

The day after CNN's report, the Washington Post - using an "anonymous source" they now admit was Davis, peddled the same story that "Cohen had told associates that he witnessed an exchange in which Trump Jr. told his father about an upcoming gathering in which he expected to get information about Clinton," however the Post didn't say Trump Jr. told Sr. it was the Russians.

“I should have been more clear — including with you — that I could not independently confirm what happened,” Davis said, adding perhaps the most difficult four words for an attorney to utter: "I regret my error."

well that didn't last long ...

So...you think Trump didn't know about the meeting?
It doesn't matter what anyone thinks, only what they can prove, but since you asked:
I think Hillary lost the election more than Trump winning it, no amount of Russian collusion proof is going to change that. Nobody forced corruption on the DNC, it was merely laid bare.

I didn't ask why Hillary lost the election, I asked if you honestly believe Trump didn't know about the tower meeting.

Ignore/deflect. Okay then. I mean, you just triumphantly posted an article that casts (the provability of) his knowledge of the meeting in some doubt, so I guessed you possibly had some opinions on the subject, but apparently all you care about is that Trump doesn't get impeached, no matter how guilty he actually is.

You can't triumphantly post an article from ZeroHedge.

That's like...I dunno, like reaching into your magic top-hat and producing a rabbit turd.

I used ZH precisely to give dumbasses who can't think for themselves the opportunity to put their irrational bias on display, thanks for playing. ;)

Also: it quotes directly from a WaPo article, you want to go ahead and discredit them too?

Oh I do, but you assumed the subject is "Trump's collusion" when it actually was, to me, yet more proof of the media's blatant bias and shoddy reporting. The usual suspects were quick to celebrate this bit of fake news they were fed right here in this thread, not even realising how their confirmation bias is blinding them.

I have strong opinions on that subject.

but apparently all you care about is that Trump doesn't get impeached, no matter how guilty he actually is.
I don't care if he is impeached, what I do care about, and what US citizens should really care about is who would replace him?

If the replacement isn't an improvement, why bother? And I don't see a single soul on the horizon that would be an improvement, not because Trump is so awesome, because the bar is that low. His VP sure as shyte isn't a step in the right direction, neither is any of the deluded "democratic" socialists out there.

Have you even listened to some of his debates? He is controversial for sure, but he does make a lot of sense. He has been unjustifiably shut down for no reason whatsoever.

Do me a favour, and name one Conservative that you respect. If you cannot, you are not looking at any of these issues in a balanced manner.

So being a pedo is "no reason whatsoever", good to know.
