That's a mighty big word for someone who has no clue what the definition for "misogyny" is. I applaud you sir, you seem to have bought a dictionary and you must be flipping backwards in reverse alphabet order to pick a word for the day!
Nay. He's almost at the end of the 'word of the day' bog roll...

Nobody is forcing the vote to happen today
Well, nobody aside from the committee / chair, you know, the only body with the power to actually make that decision ...

Anybody with the slightest modicum of respect for due process - which includes the American Bar Association by the way - wants an investigation to take place before the confirmation.
There is no reason whatsoever to link the two, any party that insists on an investigation before the confirmation, and that includes the ABA btw, is simply revealing their partisan agenda. A supreme court justice is not immune from prosecution, the investigation can proceed after the confirmation without any issues.

In fact if the dems truly believed an investigation would turn up enough evidence to convict the man they would go along with the confirmation much more easily, imagine the position of power it would put them in for the next candidate if they get this one sent to jail despite the opposition forcing the issue ...

Fair warning 'tho, if you're going to defend children in cages, good people on both sides and religious travel bans, that benefit will be revoked.

Is this before, during or after their voyage to the martian slave mines?
Good people on both sides, don't know what you're talking about here, if politicians, sorry, I have yet to see one in my long existence on the planet...
What 'religious travel bans'? There is travel ban on countries, not religions

Actually, this thread has become rather toxic. So a lot of people who used to be regular posters no longer come here. If you don't fall within of of 2 camps, you are at a distinct minority.

"When the elephants are fighting, the grass suffers". A bit sad, tbh

Toxic behaviour like making fun of a man that got emotional while testifying how he copied his father's ideas? Or making fun of a man that got emotional from having to deal with this circus? Yeah, it's been very eye opening all round.

Both sides have had massive injustices and toxic behaviour. Ford, Kavanaugh, the families. It seems that social media, political agendas and criminal accusations are divisive. Who would have guessed?

Maybe you should re-read the definitions of Ad hominem and Strawman -

Ad Hominem - (of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.

My argument is directed at the position you hold that you do not have cognitive dissonance on the subject, by highlighting specific quotes from you, that demonstrate the principles behind cognitive dissonance.

Strawman - is a common form of argument and is an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting an argument that was not presented by that opponent.

My argument with you is based on my perception of how you are demonstrating cognitive dissonance, by highlighting specific quotes that demonstrate the inconsistencies in your belief. How have I built up an alternative point that you have not made and addressed that? Your point is - I am not inconsistent. My point is, yes you are, see x and y.

Adorable from someone who jumped in on a vocabulary discussion with "bog roll". You're the best Temujin.

white ethno-nationalists like Laura Southern and Molyneux
Yet more incorrectly applied labels, exactly my point.

Leftist still means something in a "the whole f-ing world has gone full retard SJW" kinda way yes. The extremes on both sides are sort of still defined well enough, but the vast majority of all countries and parties the world over have shifted left, meaning the center has disappeared and anything even remotely centrist is perceived to be "right wing" by people who don't appreciate it is just to the right of where they are, not to the right of what would be neutral ground.

A strawn man is an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument.

Thank you. And good bye.

Yeah and ironically you are now applying that to me ... Asserting that I am making such an argument and walking away.

The GOP united front, IOW. Yeah, no, I got that.

That's so logical. If they believed he was guilty they'd let him be elected to the Supreme Court because reasons.

Well, all that rant proves is that centrism itself is a flawed and dangerous concept because everyone simply places themselves in the center.

/facepalm

The lack of centrism is the danger. There is no balance despite everyone with even a smidgen of intellect knowing that equilibrium and balance is always the better way to move forward.

We seem to strive for balance in pretty much every aspect these days and somehow just toss it aside when it comes to politics (and religion for that matter).

No, the lack of any possible definition of what constitutes the center is the problem. If you imagine you're the one who represents the center of the scale, it also means you have the authority to redress any perceived imbalances. If you can't acknowledge and own your own biases - and I can assure you that you are about as biased a human being as I've ever encountered, and I'm willing to admit that I have my own glaring biases - then centrism can be indistinguishable from zealotry.

Seems like a positive development to me, given that the current Democratic party is bought and owned by corporate interests. But they have plenty of room to move leftwards before they catch up to the values you get in Scandanavian countries. I wonder how much further the Republican party can move right before they become indistinguishable from fascism.

You are arguing against some very deep ideological views. cerebus believes that extreme Left will result in Scandinavian type countries.

Oh I know, the problem is even in that "utopia" their imbalance gave rise to things like the Soldiers of Odin. It's like they can't put 2 and 2 together; if there is no balance you are going to swing between extremes for all eternity.

Alright then, why don't you give us an example of a politically centrist and balanced position, as it relates to a specific policy?

Speaking of strawmen...

You are right. And I am sorry as you have never labelled me. So I apologise.

I do not however agree that extreme anything is good. I do think we should all have an ideal but meet halfway to come to a mutually acceptable compromise. With Ford and Kavanaugh, there is no compromise because of the delay the Democrats engineered. If they had come forward with enough time for the GOP to reconsider Kavanugh and put another candidate through a fair process, I am sure we wouldn't all wouldn't be having such heated debates.

Edit:

I will say this. Because of Trump and who he is, I believe American politics are becoming so divisive that both sides are finding it almost impossible to work together.
