The problem is Kamala is fully aware of the link between the violence/rioting and the protests. She is in the intelligence briefings regarding this. The fund that they set up to bail out "Protesters" does not differentiate between peaceful or riot. So it ends up re-releasing violent protesters. Please keep in mind that this is in the context of a discussion where the main theme was Harris and Biden supporting and/or not condemning violent rioters, with no evidence provided for the claims at the time.
Her sincerity is not particularly relevant to me in that context; I was occupied with trying to understand the basis on which these assertions were founded.
In an interview with detained reporters from the Daily Caller, who had to spend the night in jail together with other protesters at Louisville, the majority of those protesters said they will not take part in future actions. So actual detainment does help a lot weeding out the non criminals. Also it does happen that protesters call out those who riot, but it does not happen enough so they end up being a shield for those that commit crimes.
Bail reform is also not an issue here as many of the protesters are from rich families. They see it as live-action-roleplaying, especially in Portland.
Kamala was seen as "tough on crime" from her time as a DA and has been widely critiqued for the actions that took place under her watch, like the "slave labour" of prisoners . She is a completely fake person and the bail fund is a way to shift her public image. So it is relevant to mention how plastic she is.
She is also further to the left as Biden. Many of the protesters associate more with the previous candidate Bernie Sanders and as such her campaign are hesitant to call them out too much as this is a big voting block. Biden has condemned Antifa/BLM although not directly calling them by name. The double standard is obvious as Trump was previously hounded for not explicitly saying "White Supremacists" and just condemning violence on all sides. Even though he has actually done so on numerous occasions.
