Coastal figures?

CAR got the S2000 at 6.62 sec to 100km/h and 27.01 over a 1km. As I mentioned earlier, the Golf 5 GTI got a 7.67 t 100km/h and a 28.25. So coastal the S2000 is far ahead of the Golf 5 - and even ahead of the Golf 6 GTI.

Up here? I say it'd be close and I wouldn't put money on it. Guessing it would come down to driver/pull off etc ...

The Audi A3 Turbo is the same engine as the Golf 5 GTI (147kw 2.0) It's not really under powered, IMO

Have you ever been in a Civic Turbo or an Uno Turbo?

It's way under powered.....

How about I tell you that your S2000 would never ever outrun an Uno Turbo?

I'd believe you, I think the fastest car at an illegal drag thing was an Uno turbo - many years back.

A Golf 5 with a couple of reflashes will most probably be faster than an S2000... but thats after being modified. Obviously with the right mods any car can be faster than another.... but in stock form, there are NA cars faster than stock turbo cars, driver independent.

Car weight, torque, power output all come into play, turbo or no turbo...

Even thats incorrect.
All the 147kw with the BWA engine code make 165kw+!!
Already proven.

You said an A3 turbo is under powered? You didn't mention Uno or Civic in your question :/

Honda don't have turbo Civics surely? Do you mean after market or overseas?

Do you get Civic Turbo's from Honda - thought they only did NA?

It was a done up one a friend of mine owned.

Was a 2.0 Turbo. That car did a wheel spin when double clutched at 130 Km/h  By far the fastest car i have ever been in.

My point I'm trying to make is that if a Turbo is built for power and Speed vs Reliability there is no way in hell a NA car would ever beat it.... never.

The A3 is a piece of crap when it comes to Power+Speed, why they even bothered with a Turbo version is beyond me. And as I have never been in a G5 I can only assume it's the same setup = Useless :p

Aside from internet forums, how can you back this up? ;)

Maybe a press release from VW? Specs released from VW to motoring journalists? Anything?

See my quote above, I think it came out wrong.

A3 Turbo I have been in, why they even bothered with a Turbo version is beyond me :D I'm comparing it to a Standard Uno Turbo which was last made in 1995? Not to sure but given a Uno Turbo stock vs an A3 Turbo stock. There is no contest

Stock for stock?

I'd disagree on the Uno taking it ;)

You'll loose that argument to fanboi's :p

I won't argue that a properly configured turbo setup will be faster than NA...

I think there's an 8's turbo S2000 around.

Compare the car weight of an Uno to an A3 though....

Nope nothing from VW...
But theres alot of proof from dyno readings...

You can try it yourself, take a MK5 Gti with the CW engine code and dyno it against a BWA Gti, theres almost a 20kw increase in power...

You want a scarier stat?
Take a Jetta 2.0T, Scirroco 2.0T and MK6 GTi all with CWH engine codes. They all in the 170kw readings, same dyno.....
* DSG readings will differ from manual readings.

Well yes, but then the power able to be generated from an A3 should cover the difference. But the Turbo in the A3 is pretty crap without it being tuned. An Uno Turbo is a rocket straight from the production floor.

But see this is now comparing Apples with Apples.

I could have been a tard and said a G2 8valve would have been crap against an Uno Turbo. That is just silly and stupid at the same time :D

I have seen a Standard Uno Turbo do the 1/4 in under 11 seconds with the right driver.

Impossible ;)

11 second quarter miles is quicker than M5, M3, C63, 911 GT2 ...

IIRC, the standard Uno was over 9 seconds ...

Give me a sec, I'm sure it's on the web somewhere.

I did racing back when in the days I had the Polo, I think JK8 and I discussed my Polo before on here a year or 2 ago. He knows my Polo.

No worries ...

But seriously, 11 seconds are Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo figures. Maybe you misread or something, but a standard Uno Turbo doing it in 11 seconds is - well - impossible.

I'm looking at a Wiki link of the Porsche GT2 now (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_911_GT2)

993 :

0 - 60 mph 3.9
quarter mile 12.1 at 117mph

996 :

-60 mph 3.7 s
0-100 mph 8.3 s
1/4 Mile 11.9 at 120mph
Top speed 319 km/h (198 mph)

997 :

Top Speed 331 km/h (206 mph)
0-100 km/h 3.7 s
0-200 km/h 10.6 s
0-30 mph 1.2
0-60 mph 3.3 s
0-100 mph 7.3 s
0-150 mph 15.9
0-186 mph 33.0
1/4 Mile 11.2 at 129mph
