Online gaming doesn't use that much bandwidth - a 6 hour session with 32 users in most games wouldn't use more than 100MB.

You are Generalising , and if you play CS(S) , I can understand why.
A lot of the newer games use in excess of 70MB per hour.

So before you label us as pirates , please keep that in mind.

Anyone care to PM the some free proxy address's :D

cache.saix.net ... oh yeah - it only allows direct connections if you're not on ADSL. :p

Local open proxies won't stay open for long once they get discovered and hammered because someone is going to get the bills and sort the problem out really fast.

I understand that but when I see guys on their 3rd or 4th 30GB account something doesn't add up.
At 100MB/hour and 6 hours of playing per day that's only 18GB per month.

Plus patches / demos ....

Bf2142 Demo - 1.15GB
Patch - Each one in excess of 500mb
System Patches - ( I use autopatcher ) - excess of 600mb ...

Oh and btw , some months I spend 150+hrs online in games ...

The Odd Linux Distribution - 1 DVD - 4.7GB

So yeah , I can safetly say I go through more than 1 account a month , and no I dont normally get my stuff from local servers ( other than gaming )

btw nothing against u personally , I just hate it when people generalise ..

I must say if you think local surfing/email and then gaming is justifying 10GB, then you must spend almost your ENTIRE life playing games. In which case its a damn well spent R79 :D

And may people also play some RPG's and DOTA etc, so you cant always expect gaming to use 70-100MB per hour.

I think besides downloading and obviously business uses, 10 or 30GB local accounts don't have much point unless you have some special use for them. Using them with a proxy is interesting though, but you have to pay for that proxy too then.

Peeps - try to remember that if you had a 100GB throughput allowance that you could put camera's on your house in the garden, in the house, in the back yard, and stream them to work as a security feature.

BUT .. You don't have that luxury, so you don't even think of doing something like that.

10GB / 30GB ... whatever .. it's a noose around our inventive necks.

How many awesome idea's are we not doing because of the noose ?

Don't mock it till you've lived it. Dedicated online gamers don't mock your lifestyle.

I play games, don't get me wrong. But More than 5 hours a day? That's taking it a bit far.

In my opinion you'll look back at when you're 50 and you'll wonder why you "dedicated" your life to games. A different story if you actually write the games, then you're achieving something.

And transvestites don't mock my lifestyle either, but that doesn't change the fact that they are pretty messed up. Of course that's just my opinion based on common sense; suppose I shouldn't mock the transvestites and dedicated gamer lifestyle because I haven't lived it. Yea, that makes sense...

No, I run a company. And when I get a break from work, I get some good excercise and social time in playing squash. If I dont' do that - I paint. If I don't do that, I go have social contact with people called friends. And now and again I play a good RPG :)

My point is, you don't gain anything much from playing 5 hours of games each day. What skill do you get - 133t aiming skillz with the mouse? That's pretty sad. But again, just my opinion.

And to Stoke who thinks transvestites are pretty dressed up - whatever does it for you, bud.

Dude, ONE WORD:

Piracy.

Not everyone is a frikken pirate. If someone asks you "What's the point of places that sell Porches and Lamboghinis?" Are you gonna tell them "So that we can steal them!!"?!?! No, you wont.

So answer the question PROPERLY.

Yes, true, but. Not everything on p2p is illegal. :) Seeing as he didn't mention anything specific he is in line. I know what you mean though.

Cheap local enables me to use our company proxy to get basic Inet when my Intl cap is stuffed. Local should be unmetered... Techically the ADSL regs stipulate this...

It all depends what type of game aswell, if you would want to.. face it, you wont play a game if you dont like it, if you enjoy something why not do it, you are at school, university, work etc the rest of the time, might aswell have some fun.

World of Warcraft requires alot of time if you are a true player, I play alot of WoW and getting my internet radio station together aswell to have shows about all different games.

Addicted to games, no life? hmm, those are not the words, a different life and having fun comes is more like it.
