It all depends what type of game aswell, if you would want to.. face it, you wont play a game if you dont like it, if you enjoy something why not do it, you are at school, university, work etc the rest of the time, might aswell have some fun.

World of Warcraft requires alot of time if you are a true player, I play alot of WoW and getting my internet radio station together aswell to have shows about all different games.

Addicted to games, no life? hmm, those are not the words, a different life and having fun comes is more like it.

I agree that it's fun. But watching TV is fun for some people as well. If someone said they were watching 5+ hours of TV each day my response would be the same.

Personally I'm not a big fan or WoW. Not that it's a bad game, on the contrary. People I know admit that it takes over their lives because it's so addictive. But when you stop, step back and think about it for a minute - you realize time is passing you by. Is this really the *best* way to spend the little time you have? Remember, drugs are fun too - but it doesn't necessarily guarantee the best outcome in the long run.

What do you get from 5+ hours of games each week? I think killadoob clearly demonstrates how it allows you to articulate yourself with awesome expressions like ROFLMAO and O M G. That’s something to strive for.

Seriously though, instead of building up a killer character in a game, why don't you rather build up your own skills in real life instead? Sounds uber corny, but that's what it boils down to in my view.

This has gone way off topic, so I'll leave it there.

Brenden_E, seems u feel insecure surrounded by geeksw n hav the urge to put down wat they do. Im not sure y playing squash and painting is better than gaming?

U speak of the little time we have.. Im not a gamer, but im not really sociable (u seem to put a priority on socialising) so I tend to spend more time alone or with a small group of (usually geeky) people than out doing "cool" stuff. I really dont see y i should spend the little time i have doing things i dont want to

You read into that completely. In almost *every* reply I mentioned 5+ hours, and I mentioned that I have no problem with gaming (I play games myself). If it's wasn't clear, then let me make it clear. Spending that obscene amount of time on games is a waste of time in my opinion and nothing else.

If you took just 3 of those hours - 1 hour to do sport, one hour to learn to play the guitar, and one hour to read you'll be advancing your horizons so much further. And you'll still have 2 hours left to play games! Someone asked what I do with my time, so I told them. Spending time, in a small group regardless of the type of people you spend it with, is known as socializing the last time I checked. I didn't say anything about being "cool" or that socializing is the only thing you should do.

It doesn't look like I'm surrounded by Geeks, more like I'm surrounded by some very insecure folks who can't seem to take anything on merit. So forget I pointed out the obvious; go play 5 hours of games each day. I'm sure it's most rewarding...

back to topic pls?

erm... guys, posts have gone way off topic. I did not intend to start a thread that would result in ppl tearing into each other. Would you mind if we got back to the topic of usage for local only accounts?

I gleaned something interesting from a similar thread started by WillySA yesterday afternoon: http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=55712

I run a 30gig local openweb account and a 3gig telkom internet account side by side, routing all local traffic throught the local account and all international through the telkom internet account and it rocks.

I'm wondering how one could set up two accounts to run side by side like this, automatically routing local traffic through the local account and international through the international account. Any ideas?

The level of rationale here is astonishing. If I told an obese person that eating 5 burgers is too much and he should cut down (common sense), and he was thinking the way you are, he'd tell me that eating is social as well and I'm just jealous that he enjoys the food so much.

That's YOUR point of view.

IMO, the sentiment towards you is : don't try enforce your view on how others should live their lives. People have an absolute right to choose what to do with their lives (as long as their actions do not negatively affect others.) I'm sure there are many poeple here who would consider painting a waste of time, yet they're not belittling your choice to do so.

Use it, don't use it ...

Actually that's the view of the majority. But since people here are quite clearly overly sensitive about their weight, I'll avoid mentioning it in future.

OMWWTH H4x n00b!!

1337 gaming skillz Log1t3ch MX518 FTWz0r uber 1337 n00bz0rs.

Dude, there's nothing to be gained form playing 5 hours of games a day, seriously. I hate squash, but i would rather play squash than waste away my life playing BF2 (or any other game for that matter). At least there's some SOCIAL interaction when you play squash. I spend about 5-10 hours a day browsing the net, but in those hours i learn ALOT. When you're PWNING FACE w17h ur uber 1337 h4x in BF2, it's just you and that Razer Diamondback or MX518, you gain NOTHING. You don't LEARN anything, you dont INTERACT with anyone.

Finally someone caught the drift of what I was saying. And nowhere did I imply that playing squash is better than games - what I was trying to show is that you can do so much more in 5 hours.
