Using an iPhone made me realize why I love Android

This is one of the things I like about Apple:

Yesterday iOS 15.3 was released, and I updated my phone immediately.

Android 12 for the Samsung S20+ was released for the UK on 30 December 2021. Where is SA?

Nothing to do with Samsung. My Korean note gets the updates as they drop. Same with my pixel devices. Updates drop and I can update.

Local handset updates are delayed due to our useless network providers.

Not sure why you put that in italics, it is, no matter what your opinion on it is. There is a lot of marketing and stuff and viewpoints held about the iPhone, Apple is a luxury brand and markets their phones as such.

I am not saying e.g. a flagship Samsung Galaxy is not a status symbol either, btw., you'll just find that if e.g. family/friends have an iPhone, the rest will also get it since it's "in".

What about those who don’t buy the top of the range ones and get the older lower end models purely because they find it more functional?

I'm saying that there are people who have only ever purchased an iPhone and have never used Android, not saying lower end doesn't exist.
And that "lower end" price is the same as what flagships used to cost, this applies to all brands, but Apple started that nonsense.

This might be a conspiracy theory but maybe people haven’t tried Android because there’s no need to replace their iPhone because the apps are of better quality as per the article.

yes fair enough hobbled by MDM, but even without, still struggled to understand the point of Idiotphones.

all I got with my 12 was a type c and thats is,

So I had a 2 year phase with iPhone, back on Android recently.
I must say, everything is beautifully simplified with iPhone, from the design to the UX. I'm not a power user but I feel its everything you need really.
Can't trust any of the big guns but Apple seems to have a better privacy track record, I like the prompts for cross-app data sharing permission. That said, I'm enjoying dual sim, huge battery, massive screen, ad-free youtube vanced, xspotify, home page/widget customization, at a really affordable price, at the cost of Google probably sharing my wanks and contacts with everyone else. iPhone's are great but the price isn't justified.

Uhm no. Your comparison is flawed as android runs on devices used by many manufacturers which usually add their bloat to it, hence there are delays pushing the updates out.

You should compare Google (stock android) to Apple (iOS). As mentioned, updates on my pixel are available pretty much instantly once they release it.

got my Android 12 update the other day (Arrow OS 12 official) , asked for a Battery style change, got implemented ,
now you have hundreds of choices, where on Idiotphone you have 1 and if you dont like it, tough cookies, its an idiotphone.

iOS keeps things simple for a reason. Consistency. You can upgrade from an iphone 6 to a 13 and you pretty much have the same user experience linked to beefier hardware. To me it makes sense why apple is doing what their doing. Most users don't like to tinker and prefer a "it just works" solution.

That being said, the closest you'll get to iOS simplicity and "it just works" if you'd want to switch to android without tinkering would be the pixel experience. Vanilla android is smooth and bloat free and also just works out of the box.

Most Apple Users throw android into one box which kinda gives is a bad name, but actually it's the gazillion manufacturers that ruin vanilla android with their added bloat and delayed updates.

You can spin it all you like. In the real world my iPhone got updated to iOS 15 the day after it was released. My Samsung S20+ is still stuck on Android 11 even though Samsung has released version 12 for the S20+.

Old iphone was slow, this one is slow and heavy.
