Using Cell C Sim Card with Globe Trotter Modem

Hi Everyone

I have a Cell C data contract. The Cell C modem (7.2 mb/s) that I got with the initial contract that included Sim and Modem no longer works. Windows does not recognise it due to hardware malfunction. So I bought another modem (Globe Trotter Option Icon 505, 14mb/s ). This modem can connect to Cell C and registers but as soon as I start browsing the Internet it disconnects and says device not found. Then it says device found after a while and I can connect but the same thing happens again. This is very irritating.

I have tested this new modem with MTN Sim card and the it works fine (am actually using MTN to post this. ) Problem is I have data bundle bundles on the Cell C SiM card but I am able to use it. The MTN Sim card is for my phone and has no data bundles

!. Are you sure modem is damaged, not USB ports? Plug it to a different USB port. Check also modem on other computer.
2. Check Icon frequency support for WCDMA (UMTS) 900 MHz. It is required for Cell C. Force it on 2G-only and see if works.
