I think on a perceived day of romance and if gifts of a romantic and even sensual/sexual nature are given, it is pretty obvious as to what is hopefully on the cards.

You won't go to her house on Saturday and build her new table she bought expecting something in return, but if it is a romantic evening and you have bought her lingerie, odds are you want to see her in it and odds are she knows you want to see her in it.
