I am curious now. Paradox/The Chinese Room created this issue themselves. For a long time now, they have said that preorders will be honored. I mean, they put it on the record multiple times.

What they need to correct is paygating the clans, but it is starting to seem now that they are using the public to cop out on preorders. The game is now more expensive than it was. This could be all lolz on September 17.

They cancel my preorder, then I won't be buying the game. It is the principle that matters.
 
So basically cancel all pre-orders, add clans back into the base game and up the price?

Time will tell. IIRC, Sony has strict publishing rules and any change to commitments will result in a cancellation. Don't quote me on this.

I don't know what the game's preorders are like at this time, but I don't think that the marketplaces will be all too happy with mass cancelations. Epic would lose customers to Steam, etc. It would then be a commercial mess with Paradox long licking their wounds.

We will know on the 17th. This now would be the second change to the editions.

They made a promise in the past not to cancel preorders. The Collector's Edition was an exception, but that is understandable.
 
I have it on good authority that pre-order cancellations will only apply to the PlayStation Store. Other pre-orders aren't impacted ("at this time"). More will be known on the 17th. From the language used, a lot is being taken into consideration.

Well the previous games had more clans even if include DLC clans of the new one.
