VDSL available after Telkom downtime!

@DJC: Any chance you can try to stream the Futubox promo HD channel in the link below to see if it runs smoothly?
http://futuboxhd.com/sign-up/

Maybe you could also try the BBC iPlayer streaming speed diagnostic tests over here?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/diagnostics

That futubox stream plays fine, but I don't think it's HD.

BBC iPlayer results:

Excuse the crappy quality, it's a screenshot from a vnc session.

Just an update on some real world speeds. Busy downloading something from put.io's Euro servers, four threads, using my free 1gig Afrihost account:

Thanks for that tool, my exchange said it supports 10mb, i'm on 4mb, do I just call telkom and ask them to switch my profile? Mind you, with 41db, probably 6mb would be better

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 507 kbps
Line Attenuation 41.5 db 20.6 db
Noise Margin 18.3 db 18.5 db

Anyone here in the Tableview/Parklands area that can confirm if they have 20Mbps or better?

Yes. Me. I'm in table view on blaauwberg road connecting to the popham/arum msan.

Well, I phoned them but no luck. Oh well.

Does anyone know where all the various MSAN's are located in Tableview?

Edit: It's odd though, I'm entering a couple of ADSL line numbers that are on blaauwberg road however they all state the maximum is 4Mbps.

Phoning them is only going to give you grey hairs unless you have a private number of some supervisor or technician, the call center simply cannot provide you with any useable information on this.

I know of three MSANs in the vicinity of my place:

1. Corner of Arum and Popham.
2. Corner of Arum and Tritonia.
3. Marine Drive (in front of the Subway).

It has been suggested to me that the majority of the area should be upgraded by the end of September.

So if I cannot phone them how would I go ahead with attempting a 20Mbps order?

Sorry, I missed this last question completely.

Best way to deal with Telkom these days is through social media:

My internet is ridiculously fast tonight :D

Response time are just awesome, I click the Facebook link and it opens practically instantly - same thing with Youtube. I am hoping it stays like this forever! :D
