VDSL max speed 80Mbps?

I currently have 20Mbps VDSL

Recently my router stats show that the downstream line rate is 22Mbs and the attainable is 78Mbps.

I know that VDSL is only offered up to 40Mbps so is it possible to go higher than 40 these days?

No, telkom limits it to 40 Mbps however why don't you upgrade to 40Mbps? Only R100 p/m on line rental more

So Telkom has no plans beyond 40Mbps?

I seem to be happy on 20Mbps. No buffering on video streams and I schedule downloads after midnight.
 
I'll have to search for exactly what profile Telkom has installed as that will define the reply...

In theory VDSL2 can get you 200Mbps+ if you are very close to the MSAN but it drops very quickly as the distance increases.

a bit off topic...but I have an adsl2+ modem...not vdsl...attainable says 17000...can I upgrade my line speed to 20Mb/s?
I know I will only get 17...but for 80 bucks more it seems worth it?

I also checked that i will be limited to 1mb/s upload...and not the usual 2....

Yes, they will most likely drop your sync to ~15Mbps so that it's stable and your upload will be limited to 1Mbps.
You can always try.
 
Hi guys, i know the wrong location of the forum but can one get a free modem if one's modem was destroyed by lightning from telkom? I remember if you signed a 24 month contract it was cheap or free??? That was a while ago though.

You can try - nothing to lose. Just don't tell them it was due to lightning!!

Also would you suggest a Asus AC87 Access point for a very large single floor house? Need something with a massive range for a round R2000.
 
Damit - I hear of everyone getting bumped up a few mbps ... I got bumped down by 2mbps :(

to? I am still on 10Mbps, never going to get faster until someone decides to roll out fiber. It's better than the 1Mbps I was stuck on 3 years ago though.
 
For the past year, I've synced at 20mbps (max available 22mbps). The last few weeks I've synced at 18mbps (max now 25mbps).
