So, I'm in the market for a new VDSL router, I basically just need it as a modem to connect to my Mikrotik.
I currently have a Pace 921VNX which is terribly unstable and loses sync several times a day, testing with an Mweb Fon router and seems to be much better having not dropped once in nearly 3 days (it is a re-branded Technicolor TG589vn).
I need something that offers good line stats and 100% rock solid as I never once had an issue on 20mb ADSL (with a Dlink 2750U) so the line is fine.
Can anyone comment on the Zyxel VMG1312-B10A? I don't need any of the fancy features as I will be disabling pretty much everything, just need a stable sync. It seems like the cheapest option but happy to spend a bit more if there is something more stable.
Also, does anyone know which of the suppliers stock these? Rectron used to but it seems like they don't any more.

Hi,

Our new AC750 duo-band VDSL Wifi Router is now available.

I wanted to get the Billion B-8800NXL, which seems to have a lot of admirers and offers some future proofing (my current router is so old and might be the cause of really annoying micro disconnects I've been having) but it seems to be unavailable. Wootware suggested the ASUS DSL-AC68U in its place but it's 4 times as expensive. Is there another option similar to the Billion's specs and it's price?

Sadly this product gets distributed by Tarsus. They have been absolutely useless in promoting and making billion products available here. Including that piece of **** website they are now responsible for. Previously Nology carried the product and did a FAR better job! Just checked on the Tarsus portal and although they carry the entire range of Billion products they have virtually no stock of anything... Specifically the 8800NXL = no stock for the entire country. Absolutely useless.

Hi Asus

How is this one different to :

1) DSL-AC68U
2) DSL-N66U

One is R1000 more expensive and the other R2000. Wondering what exactly one gets extra for the money and which is appropriate for me. Ready to throw the Billion out as it does not deal with the 7 wireless and 8 wired devices in my house.

Hi lestoran,

DSL-AC68U is the most high-end ADSL/ VDSL router in the current lineup. Max speed on 5Ghz (on paper) is 1300Mbps, and on 2.4Ghz 600Mbps. This handles multiple devices and traffic with minimal effort, and has the fastest USB read/ write speed out of all our DSL-series products.

DSL-N66U is a N900 model: 450Mbps on both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz. This model does not support 802.11ac.

DSL-AC52U is AC750. It is our new mainstream model in the lineup, and has 802.11ac capability.

If you want something truly future-proof that is guaranteed to deal with your 15 devices, then I would suggest DSL-AC68U.

Hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further info.

I currently use a TPLink 8840T as my router, that goes into a 24 port GB switch, to which a TPLink Archer C7 AC1750 is connected as my Wifi AP.

If I decide to consider VDSL... I'd like to just replace the 8840T with a VDSL unit, something simple, 1-4GB ports, Firewall, basic, no Wifi AP.

Suggestions/cost?

Hi there,

We'll be happy to throw our name into the hat.

Our two options most relevant to your requirements would be:
1) DrayTek Vigor2760 with 4 GigaLAN ports.
2) DrayTek Vigor130 with 1 GigaLAN port.

Give a shout if I can help at all with the above.
Cheers

The image under "Overview" that you're referring to, is a general overview of the full Vigor2760 series.

The series consists of three models:
1) Vigor2760 (no WiFi)
2) Vigor2760n (802.11n WiFi)
3) Vigor2760Vn (VoIP ports and 802.11n WiFi)

Will DM you with regard to resellers in your area for pricing, etc.

Hi Georgelza,

Unfortunately we only make ADSL/ VDSL wireless modem routers. Here's a list of available models that support VDSL: DSL-N17U, DSL-AC52U, DSL-N66U, DSL-AC68U

MrDraytek, please advise.
I am looking for a DSL modem, that will setup a VPN connection back to our corproate office. I have 41 sites, with 2M uncapped DSL, a max of 4 users per site. They need to connect back to corporate via a VPN tunnel setup by/on the DSL modem.
They also need to access the internet, surfing, Office 365 and updates, via the same device.
Everything must be seamless to the user, therfore no pass-through. Can you assit?

Sure thing -
Those IP addresses used in the application note are just examples, you can use whichever private IP ranges you prefer.
The VPNs may also be configured to allow access on either side for inter-device communication (ie for printers/etc).

Have a look at the Vigor2760 series WebUI here, which will give you a better idea of all the features available.
