I would really like to get my hands on one of these bad boys to put it through the paces. Seems like a good product.

Thor, my son, I art thy father Odin.
How may we rectify such an injustice as this, and bequeath thou with thy rightful VDSL routing device?

I love you you guys.

I don't know. I have mikrotiks and ubiquities and drytek isn't cheap I'm so afriad to fork out and buy one and then it might not live up to the hype. If that makes sense? (saying this with the biggest respect of course )

Not live up to the hype? This is blasphemy! I fear it is Loki who is spreading such things. We stake our righteous reputations on these mighty treasures.
It would be our honour to impart such a robust and powerful DrayTek bounty unto thou at a fair market rate.

Seems we have xDSL/VDSL in our area now, would the old MWEB FON Router work.

Removed mweb firmware though, technicolor TG589vn v3 10.5.2.F.BN ?

I didn't change anything, after Telkom changed my line to VDSL I restarted the modem and it was working.

Hi there,

How long did it take for the change from ADSL to VDSL to be implemented?
Yesterday I had called Telkom to change my 4Mbit to 10, they said I could go to 40Mbit, I said fine lets do it :)

On another note:
I have just received the D-Link DSL-224 router, does anyone have any knowledge on how good this "badboy" is?
Its fairly new, and cannot find much info on the net about it...I have done the whole setup and all ( pretty straight forward ), just like to know is there a way to set bandwidth limits to the Guest a/c...

[Edit]
Here are stats:

Adsl Line Status SHOWTIME.
Adsl Mode G992.5
Channel Mode Interleave
Up Stream 991 kbps
Down Stream 12479 kbps
Attenuation Down Stream 17
Attenuation Up Stream 7
SNR Margin Down Stream 22.1
SNR Margin Up Stream 7.0
Vendor ID RETK
Firmware Version v134g113
CRC Errors 0
Up Stream BER -2e-7
Down Stream BER 0e-7
Up Output Power 10
Down Output Power 14
ES 0
SES 0

Thanks in Advance,

It took maybe 30 minutes to an hour to change from ADSL to VDSL but I've read posts from people saying that's not the case anymore, I think the new time frame is a week or less.

Now 2017 - several more VDSL routers have become available in SA. For those wondering --- I tried several ADSL routers on my VDSL 20 Mbps Telkom SA, line and they do NOT work. The Telkom PACE 921NX router still the best on VDSL i.m.o. - tested over 3 years.

More VDSL routers to choose from :

1. ZyXEL VMG1312-B10D : [R900 - R1000 ]
https://www.nology.co.za/telkom/telkom-products/wireless-vdsl2-adsl2-gateway-with-usb-detail

2. Netgear VEVG2660 VDSL Router [R2000++ ]
https://secure.telkom.co.za/today/shop/business/device/netgear-vevg2660-vdsl-router/#!k=device-slider-3904

3. Billion 8800nl R2 VDSL Router

4. TP-LInk :
http://www.tp-link.co.za/products/list-15.html?filterby=4882&page=1

TP-LInk : W9970
TP-LInk : AC900
TP-LInk : AC1600

Hope this helps those that are on VDSL in South Africa.
